Well done - I think Jump was no. 1 in 1984. PS - did you ever hear Aztec Camer's version?
-
Friday Music Quiz
Well done for Jump but you need the right artist for Fame.... NB, the correct format for answers is as follows (so says Mr Anal): 2. 'Jump' - Van Halen (1984) ...but I don't need to see your workings.

Friday Music Quiz
Right guys and gals, here is today's music challenge. How many UK no. 1's can you name, the title of which consists of just one four letter word? I'm not interested in 1, 2 or 3 letter words. Just the four. And which act has had more four letter no 1's than any other? The last time I ran this challenge in the mid 90's, there were already about 15. So, in the words of the Black Eyed Peas, let's get this started... 1. 'Help' - The Beatles (1965)

Music question
Spot on. Far too easy for you boys. I'm going to start a newby in anew thread seeing as it's Friday....

Music question
Right one for you then. Who sang lead vox on Free Nelson Mandela? And who had to fill in for him on the Tube to sing it because he didn't turn up?
-
Music question
That must be Dee C Lee? or... Tracie? Either way, someone who was signed to Weller's short-lived label (I forget the name) as a solo artist, sang backing vox for the Style Council and was probably tarted out to a band like The Special AKA on Free Nelson Mandela for thr TOTP performance.... Please tell me I'm close

Music question
Yes And the only person to score a penalty against Shilton at Wembley...? A: Tony the tiger

Music question
A ha! There was a girl drummer who was in the Belle Stars, the Fun Boy 3 (or maybe The Colourfield) and, if I'm not very much mistaken, The Communards. Was it her? Was it?

Music question
My stab at the artist who appeared 3 times in one TOTP would be..... Gary Tibbs! Who? I hear you cry.... Well Gary Tibbs was a bass player who was in both Roxy Music and Adam and the Ants at the same time in the early 80's. He also played bass with Hazel O'Connor and featured in the film Breaking Glass. So I reckon it is conceivable that on one TOTP, in 1981, he could have played on: Hazel O'Connor - Eighth Day Adam and the Ants - Stand and Deliver Roxy Music - Oh Yeah Now, even though I suspect this is probably wrong, I would like some major nerdy respect for knowing this sort of crap! Alternatively, we could be talking about a Xmas TOTP in which George Michael could have featured solo, in Wham and in Band Aid???

Music question
Sorry to be a nerd but the first troupe to replace Pan's People were in fact called Ruby Slipper. They didn't last long and Legs and Co came in shortly after....

Ten Cate stirs up trouble
I personally think Clarke should go. I mean I bloody would if I was him. He's never going to move up to the top table with Grand and Cate there so for the sake of self respect I'd move on and get ready for a major and truiumphant return in a couple of years working with Sparky. Just for the record, I absolutely love Steve Clarke. For me he is the only thing that still connects the club to the wonderful 90's, so it is with heavy heart that I submit this. Gawd bless you Stevie...

Which side of your brain do you use?
I have the world's worst hangover and this is doing my head in. She was spinning clockwise for ages and then I took the tip about looking at her legs only and she started going the other way.... But then I focused on the knee of her outstretched leg and she's started to go back and forth, switching from the point where the anti-clockwise leg is pointing to the right. I now think she's caled Julia, is about 19, quite the english rose, who wants an experienced and respected 'father figure' to help her get off the turntable once and for all.... God, this beats porn.

The return of the music quiz
Right. White flag's going up on 5 and 10.... I was convinced 5 was something to do with BEF / Heaven 17 / ABC but I've drawn a right blank. I'm going to assume that it's something Scottish and very hip c. 86! 10 I've got no idea on but could be something like The Floaters (see my ident!) or the Drifters. Good luck to whoever takes up the mantle. I really must work......nnnnggggggggg
