  1. Didn't say Jones; if anything hes regressed because he's been played all over the place. Smalling is actually very good WHEN he plays as a CB. People watch him at RB and then declare him to be sh*t and it's really annoying; last season he appeared 27 times, of those 27 appearances he played as a RB 15 times and as a CB 12 times.
  2. You've the best defense in the league true, but I think people forget that we've the 5th best defense in the league (4 goals behind Everton and 3 behind Arsenal), and that's with our shockingly poor midfield in front of it; teams were just walking through our midfield last season like they weren't even there and then going down our left flank because Evra was still half way up the pitch. I think with Shaw along with an experienced and solid Cb plus 1 or 2 signings in midfield and we'll be a whole lot better defensively.
  3. I disagree. These are the top 8 teams defensively. 1. Chelsea GA 27. 2. Manchester City GA 37. 3. Everton GA 39. 4. Arsenal GA 41. 5. Manchester United GA 43. 6. Southampton GA 46. 7. Crystal Palace 48. 8. Liverpool GA 50. Our biggest problem defensively has been Evra who has been a liability all season. Compounding this is the fact that we've been playing Smalling and Jones out of position hence they've not been able to form a partnership at the back; when Smalling plays as a CB he's solid. Hence why I think we need a new LB to replace Evra and an experienced CB to partner Smalling/Evans. As for RB we'll probably promote Varela for when Rafael is injured.
  4. Rumours are that we're close to getting the deal done but we all know how deals can collapse at the last minute. I think you guys would be mental to let him come to us since he could be for us what Cole has been for you guys. Get Shaw and then all we have to worry about is another CB to strengthen our defense. I know a lol of people think we need 2 CBs but if you've been watching us regularly you'll know that the weakest link our defense has been Evra.
  5. United fan here, yeah don't shoot me. My dad bought me a Barcelona shirt back when I was about 8 but that was because we were actually in Barcelona on holiday and it was a nice souvenir to take home. I wouldn't wear the shirt of an English team though and I don't think I would have even back then as a kid. I suppose if I moved to another country I could get behind supporting a local team since it'd be easier to go to the matches, but I'll always be a United fan at heart no matter what.
  6. They'll undoubtedly get stronger, it's just whether they'll be stronger than Chelsea, City, Manchester United and Liverpool and I don't think they will be.
  7. We could be after Fabregas too, we certainly have the money anyway, it's just whether Barca want to sell and whether he wants to come, it's more likely than last summer anyway. I think Barca have to give Arsenal a chance to equal the bid though. Do you think Fabregas would like to join RVP once again?
  8. I hope it would be Liverpool but I've got a feeling that it'll be Arsenal.
  9. Moyes's main problem was his lack of pedigree; he walked into a dressing room full of players that won had numerous PL titles, had won the Champions League (twice in Giggs's case), and then expected to command respect and inspire confidence into them despite the fact he had won nothing himself. The players never respected him from day one and despite being professionals (they did try, at least initially), it still must have affected them subconsciously. He was far too negative and defensive and seemed to prefer words like "we'll try," and "we hope," rather than "we'll do," etc. His second and perhaps biggest error was sacking Fergie's coaching staff which he replaced with his amateurs from Everton. These were the people that knew how to keep RVP in tip top shape and the fact they went played a massive part in why Robin suffered so many injuries last season; Moyes basically over trained him and then out of desperation brought him back too soon when he wasn't fully fit causing him to become injured once again. They weren't any better in training either and there have been reports that the coaches had the players focus on defensive work and fitness rather than ball work, which would probably explain why we were so poor in the final third or why our passing was so diabolical. This was compounded by his dithering in the summer transfer window where he let the Thiago Alcantara deal go, a deal Fergie had already set up but Moyes wasn't sure about and because he wanted to scout him more....... I really could go on in loads of detail but I'll just end by saying that in the 50 odd games that he managed that we never had the same staring line up, not once, and people wonder why we were such a disorganized unit. Sure Fergie liked to rotate too but he always had a dependable core, the spine of the team that he relied on.
  10. He wouldn't be my first choice and I'd have Mourinho or Guardiola over him but he's the best manager currently available. He's won 19 trophies including the Champions League with Ajax in the 1994-5 season, 7 league titles with 4 respective different clubs (Ajax, Barcelona, AZ and Bayern Munich), and is credited for laying the foundations at Bayern etc along with a load more cups. He also favours attacking football and likes to promote youth making him ideal for us too. No matter what he's still a massive improvement on Moyes who was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster. The main thing he's already done is bring a sense of order and confidence back to the club. Fan morale is quite high and most people I speak to are confident about the future. There are reports that we're close to signing Luke Shaw for £30M and that we're going after Toni Kroos too. Now under Moyes I'd have said that would never happen but with LVG at the helm it's a lot more likely. We could be in for Robben as well which would be a great deal, he's old but that doesn't matter in LVG's system and he'd be quite cheap too, say £15-20M cheap, and that way we could spend the rest of our considerable transfer fee reserves on the midfield and defense which are the main areas of concern, the midfield more so. I'm confident we'll be in the top 4 next season and challenging for the title the season after.
  11. Think we United fans have the loathing thing down to a T. So glad they didn't win it although it would never have happened under Fergie's watch. Can't believe we pretty much gifted them 6 points. Hopefully with LVG and a few signings we'll be able to put them back in their place.
  12. Premier League: Chelsea. FA Cup: City. Champion's League: Real Madrid. Community Shield: Manchester City Top 4 1. Chelsea. 2. Manchester City. 3. Manchester United. 4. Liverpool. Mourinho always does better in his second season and I expect him to further improve the team. With a striker and a few more additions you'll be pretty much set. City have FFP to worry about and it's always harder to defend the title as teams will raise their game against you. Liverpool will find it hard to keep Suarez because let's face it, what Real Madrid wants they get, that and they'll find it harder to replicate this season's form whilst competing in Europe. As for us, well we actually now have a manager who has pedigree and who has won stuff; I think people are seriously overestimating our squad deficiencies whilst also underestimating what an awful job Moyes did. So yep, with LVG at the helm and a few signings we'll be right back up there in the mix; we won't be challenging but we'll definitely be in the top 4. If anything I think Arsenal will be the big losers out of all this; they were in serious trouble of dropping out of the top 4 at one point and that was with us seriously under-performing. They just don't have the depth to deal with injuries; people forget that RVP only played 22 games all season and that Rooney was out for here and there too.
  13. This is true, but in terms of money the strongest of the top teams are City, you guys and us and with Liverpool's recent surge I actually think Arsenal are the weakest and that they could be the ones to drop out of the top 4 next season, especially if Wenger goes and we get a good manager, it's not even certain that they'll finish above Everton and they're not exactly having a bad season by their standards, they're currently on 70 points and in the last five seasons they've finished with 73, 70, 68, 75, and 72 while we're having a monumentally bad season by our owns standards. So no I don't think the top 4 is just a big ask for us. Especially since Liverpool will have to worry about more games next season since they'll be in the CL and we won't, and if they win the title which it looks like they will, then they'll have the added pressure of having to defend it with everyone else raising their games against them.
  14. If Liverpool have shown us anything it's how quick things can change when you have a good manager at the helm. These are the players (Plus Mata, Januzaj, Fletcher, Fellaini), that won the title last season by 11 points. Yes we've performed very poorly this season but that's down to Moyes's inept tactics/trainings/formations etc, and the fact that the players haven't wanted to play for him hasn't helped either. So a new good manager will alleviate a lot of those problems. As for the money side of things, we don't need to go out and buy the world's best, we just need to buy better players then we currently have, which isn't hard considering our midfield consists of Carrick, Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini and an ancient Giggs. Do you seriously think we can't improve on that? I think we need 2 class CMs and with them in place our defense will look so much better, the mdifield is the engine room of the team after all. After that we'll need 1 LB and maybe a winger. Also, is our back line so bad? 4th best defense in the league isn't exactly great but it's not that bad either.
  15. I seriously hope you're kidding but just in case you're not. 16. Their strike force is definitely better than yours. But you guys have the best defense in league and I'd rate your midfield over theirs. Or do you disagree?
  17. So if the table never lies do Liverpool have a better squad than you? Genuine honest question.
  18. You lost me at retiring RVP, ROFL, nice WUM.
  19. So managerial ability has no affect on player performance at all?
  20. Because no one has ever heard of a team under performing before. Seriously, before the start of the season where did you expect United to finish? 2nd? 3rd? Possibly 4th? No one had us pegged to finish 7th, NO ONE. In the last 7 years we've either finished 1st or 2nd and you're telling me this team isn't good enough for the top 4? Get a good manager and we'll be right back up there.
  21. So De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Rio, Rafael, Shinji Kagawa, Adnan Januzaj, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie wouldn't get into Liverpool's starting 11?
  22. After awarding Liverpool 3 penalties? sh*t if we really are bribing him then I want our bloody money back.
  23. Fair enough but it also annoys me that people think Webb is in our pocket. He's really not.
  24. Arsenal and Liverpool don't have a better starting 11 than us. They have players that are performing better than us and that's because they both have great managers whereas we were saddled with David Moyes and his incompetent coaching staff, the same staff that had our players running rather than doing ball work. It's funny that you say that Smalling, Jones and Evans are rubbish when our defense is better than Liverpool's. It's also amusing that you think Danny Welbeck is crap when he's scored 3 more goals than both Torres and Ba respectively, so what are they? It's not certain that Rio and Evra are leaving, that could change with a new manager coming in. Our squad is sh*t? We have the likes of De Gea, Jones (only 22), Smalling (solid when he plays in his preferred position as CB), Rafael, Kagawa, Januzaj, Mata, Danny Welbeck (Scores goals and that's when he's not even being played as a striker), Hernandez, Rooney and Robin van Persie.
  25. There's probably an element of truth to that, but more because people were scared of Fergie rather than him bribing them or whatever. It's down to the officials at the end of the day, they should have told him to F off; but we as a club aren't going to turn down any advantages that we get, you wouldn't either. Regardless if you want to go after the ones who really get the officials favor then go after Liverpool. How many penalties have they had this season? How many dodgy decisions have gone their way? Not just this season either but historically. Liverpool top the penalties given table and are closely followed by Arsenal with us in 3rd. You guys are 5th.
