  1. Gapko is a class act. He is a striker I’d like us to have. Similar to Jackson with the ball but a much better finisher.
  2. He could have had a lot more assists, but whether he will with jackson is another matter. And hey I like jackson but he and stirling do miss a few. However even if Enzo wants to be advanced it's a bad idea. Enzo will just get in the way if he is advanced all the time.
  3. I think that's the whole point. If two clubs each had a Gallagher that came through their own academy, identical twins, identical football skills it would be profitable for the two clubs to sell/swap the twins. Both clubs would make a profit that could be used for other players.
  4. In the I hate to say I said that category France have yet to score a goal from open play. As with PSG the lack of a real centre forward, Mbappe is not really a 9, or a goal scoring midfielder and with Griezman past his peak France have few attacking weapons, or so it seems. Of course they have a great defence and that may be enough. Portugal shouldn't be starting either Ronaldo, where they have plenty of alternatives, or Pepe. It will cost them, Pepe's slip could already have cost them if Sesko had done the business. I continue to maintain the English defence will get found out by someone. Spain do look the most complete team and Germany with Fullkrug are a good side in attack, maybe less so with Havertz. Other than Fullkrug I've barely seen an out and out 9 better than Jackson. Or so it seems, obviously that can't be true but it just seems like it. Mbappe is obviously world class but not really playing like a team player at the moment and doesn't seem anywhere near his best. Lukaku looks way off his peak.
  5. Any how Cucu has started for Spain every game and basically hasn't looked out of place for one of the top teams. Clearly first choice for the Chelsea and we need an understudy not a new starting left back. Cucu is imperfect but a reliable, ball playing, team captain style central back, maybe older than some of the others by a year or two would be very helpful.
  6. I thought the same. But I want a proper centre back, nailed on starter. For me a good team has a strong spine, centre back, central midfield and striker.
  7. Of course Maradonna took drugs. My point is he was one the best footballers the world has ever seen. His story was so much more than the end of his career. He carried Argentina in the 86 World Cup when he was 25 having come back from a broken leg. He carried Napoli to a scuddeto when they were a rubbish team. He may well have ended up on drugs anyway but if you watch the movie you will see how Napoli embraced him, gave him a home, chewed him up and then discarded him like last season’s t shirt. it’s a top movie. I recalled the “86 World Cup as in the USA it was Mexico as I should have remembered. one of Maradonnas goals was voted goal of the century if you watch the movie, which doesn’t show much football but in what it does show you will just see a beat juventus or Milan defender just shake his head my original point was that had he not been injured Neymar may have given us football lovers similar joy. .
  8. The movie is a lot better than a drug movie, although it might suit you poms to believe Maradonna was on drugs and neymar cheats. As usual if you aren’t English you arent any good and if you are it’s because you cheat. Makes me smile. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Maradona_(film)
  9. Fair enough. There is a very good movie about Maradonna that shows what happened to him in Italy. Well worth watching, one of my favourite sports movies. I thought Maradonna in that USA tournament, a great tournament, was on a different level. There were times when he was playing where it. Looked like everyone else was standing still. In fact probably along with Brazil Italy and France Germany from 1982 World Cup some of the most memorable football I’ve ever seen.
  10. And yet Maradonna had his hand of god and is remembered as a great footballer. And despite that handball anyone who watched that tournament will have seen how he was clearly a great player and how diminished that tournament and football in general would have been diminished without Maradonna. Your view is churlish in my opinion but there you go. . I don’t see neymar being injured as karma but as a loss to people like me who like to watch great footballers.
  11. Yet casedi has a knack of scoring goals and my understanding was that Maresca gave him more and more minutes. I haven’t seen enough of him. Yet I don’t see the need for dewsbury hall.
  12. Great video. Makes you realize just how talented Neymar is. His career is a bit of a tragedy. Deserved to have been seen at his best in big tournaments.
  13. Good read.
  14. Gutted if we lose chukwumeka who if fit I rate as highly as Palmer. Even casedi would be a loss. Casedi has the airial power few in the squad possess. Chuwumeka and casedi do need to play. Loans I could understand. Casedi played for mares a last season and was getting minutes.
  15. ozboy replied to evissy's topic in General Chelsea FC
well anyway Maresca isn't Guardiola nor does he have a season in the premier league under his belt. Bit early to say what impact he will have on ab 17 year old's career. I'd love to see how Guardiola did with an average squad. Look at Ancellotti came in an coached Everton for a season. I admire that.
  16. Georgia great rewarded with Spain.
  17. England have been handed the easiest draw I can imagine right up to the final. Ridiculous.
  18. As expected France can barely score and England can’t beat a low block. England will do a lot better when they play a team with as much ability and can play on the break a bit more. England does have the talent but the selection and management holding them back. And now not much sel belief.
  19. I keep saying it but I reckon the Chelsea are building something good.
  20. A goal every second game in France averaged over 4 seasons for a 24 year old is not be sneered at. Could make a decent alternative to Jackson
  21. Couple of very late goals these euros as players tire at the death, Germany, Italy. Croatia an old team paid the price for not having enough legs to use their midfield. big crowds, close matches, fun comp.
  22. Fullkrug is part of the answer for Germany. When you get sick of watching havertz not quite scoring the bring on a proper finisher.
  23. It’s not only that. You can inflate the price for both. Club A sellers academy player A to club B for 100 all profit. True market value is 50. Club B sells academy player B to club A for 100, pure profit. Actual market value 50. each club has created 50 of bullsh*t value and no one is any worse off. Both clubs have high depreciation and would take a loss if the player has to be resold at true value. For all I know the high depreciation may be tax deductible so there is also a cash benefit.
