Fabregas and Jorginho both had discipline and tactical awareness, regardless of their athletic inefficiencies. Enzo Fernandez is not interested in sitting in a two, he'll be running into the box at any opportunity and leaving Caicedo alone. We've seen this play out for 3 years now. Enzo Fernandez would flourish in Burger King, that is it.

I don't believe I've moved any goal posts. Courtois started for us in the PL when he was 23 and arguably one of the best GK's in the world. Penders is 20 and just had an ok season at Strasbourg. The risk of having him start week in week out is far too high in the PL. Strasbourg for another season then a European level team after that.

That was on Maresca though. He had the blueprint of success following the CWC final and just reverted back to his super conservative approach. Hopefully Xabi (a proven winner, not a nepo bald fraud) is smarter than that.

Best case he's moved to a team with far more ambition. Worst case he collects £13M a year then gets a new job.
