  1. Very good crowd. 3 sides terracing which all look pretty full.
  2. Just spotted online- always thought the orange number was murder meself.
  3. Strange footwear for a young Skin/Suedehead.
  4. The East Stand seats started life olive green and changed to blue. Are they still the original seats or were they sprayed? My old man always laughed at the way the cantilever steelwork rusted in next to no time.
  5. Not all Chelsea fans are equal IMO. As far as this thread goes some of the most " schrill", ultra competitive, have to get the last word in posters are the very ones who should be the most low key, owing to the fact that they have never attended a game.
  6. Very well put. Some of the most sterile stuff I've seen served up has been Mourinho towards the end of his first spell, and most of this year under Conte. Arsenal under Wenger have been over elaborate at times, but generally played " prettier" football than us. Ive done my bit over the years and go on a when it suits me basis now, but I'm always amazed by fans who aren't that bothered if we play generally dull football providing there's some silverware come May. ( The " sh*t game but we got 3- points which is the main thing innit" brigade) Surely watching your team for 90 minutes is supposed to be enjoyable, not just some stepping stone towards glory?
  7. And today's matchday sponsor is.......Valium.
  8. Malcolm MacDonald slipped through the net. He was a Fulham boy who went to school in Chelsea. He was spotted playing non-league by Bobby Robson, and quickly moved between Fulham and Luton to Newcastle where he really made a name for himself. He was all pace and power with two good feet. I reckon he could have formed a lethal partnership with Peter Osgood and Charlie Cook.
  9. It was indeed 34 years ago. Time flies like an arrow ( celery flies like a vegetable!)
  10. My mate is the manager of this vets team- I told him I'd be good for second sub, maybe 20 minutes late on- turned up and they were down to the bare bones, hence I had to play the whole game having not kicked a ball in a getting on for two years. As Nibbs pointed out, everything aches in the days following- never mind calfs, back, thighs, it felt like my entire anatomy belonged in a sling! Loved the crack and a few pints after but that was definitely my last game.
  11. I got roped into playing 90 minutes of veterans football the other Sunday ( I'm 52). I couldn't get me trousers back on until the following Tuesday!
  12. In this day and age with specialist fitness coaches, I'd be amazed if Fabregas hasn't been put through his paces. When your legs are shot they're shot.
  13. And a bit later on Fillery, Chivers and Mark Dennis came up through Mitcham Royals I think.
  14. Never seen this. What's the Cup I wonder?
  15. Good shout. I briefly played for their youth team. Cant quite get my head around the prospect of them being in the football league.
  16. Football, as exemplified by Wembley, seems to have lost its soul. When it was announced that FA Cup semi's were to be played there in order to recoup rebuilding costs, it was met by universal derision by fans who realised this would reduce the specialness of the Cup Final. The spectacle of empty " Club Wembley" seats for large parts of the game just reinforces opinion that a large section of the crowd aren't to bothered about events on the park. I couldn't support another football league team but am giving serious thought to watching more non league football in the future. I'd save a fortune and it's just seems more real that the Premiership/ Wembley and all the bullsh*t that surrounds top flight football in this country.
  17. My parents moved to Pagham. A good few Chelsea there including old face and author MK. ( he gets in Le Reserve) Lots of Londoners seemed to have moved down permanently having got to know that part of the world through the caravan parks at Selsey, Church Farm etc. Always thought we had loads of fans down that way from Worthing across to Chichester and beyond.
  18. Haha. Merland Rise, " theatre of dreams!" Always bloody cold up there. It used to be known as the graveyard.
  19. Hammersmith and Fulham did allow Fulham to groundshare with QPR between 2002-2004. Fulham FC is in a nicer area than Loftus Road however, and as a rule of thumb the residents in upmarket areas tend to complain more. I agree that there would likely be opposition.
  20. Source of confusion.
