Well, we did go a full season with Torres, Ba & Eto'o. We seemed to get that Costa deal wrapped very quickly & Atletico had a CL final at the time. You could assume there was some desperation in that.

I thought Salah was very underrated at Chelsea, he was good in his first 6 months, then after that Mourinho completely pushed him out of the team. He had some awful performances in the cup games but he seemed to me a player who lost his confidence, then he made up for all that when he left. You also have a point of Cuadrado, but I never really seen him put in a good performance at Chelsea because I think I can only recall a few games where he even played.

There were a few under the 2nd Mourinho era which were treated unfairly and misused I thought, Schurrle, De Bruyne & Felipe Luis would be the 3. Always performed well and never given a chance. But the most I've saw in my lifetime was Daniel Sturridge, he was the only bright spark in the AVB era, young age & our top goal scorer despite playing out of position. I thought Di Matteo was quite harsh with Sturridge, especially in the second season when he was pushed to the sidelines to make way for Torres who always had trouble scoring. I still regret to this day selling him despite his last 2 seasons at Liverpool.

I'm not so sure, could we rely on Kennedy should Moses or Alonso be injured? Is it suitable to put Azpi there if Moses is injured? We will be playing two games a week from now on so it won't be like last season. Moses kind of dropped off the second half of the season he seemed tired. I'm actually not sold at all on Cahill being a starter so I would like to see Rudiger & Chirstensen play more games at Cahill's expense, but again I think the main issue we have here is depth in width. Azpi as good as he is wouldn't be up to attacking standard out wide that we would want/need. Moses runs at players, brilliant at 1v1's always looking to get the ball into the box. Would be good if we could add some depth there with a player who is willing to do the same. A Central midfield with Bako & Kante we lack creativity but we can always rotate there with Cesc, but I think another midfielder could be ideal for rotation purposes, it'll be a long season. Other than that I'm fine with the team, 1-2 signings needed.

Barkley & Drinkwater would be mediocre signings, at least sign someone like Ox who would bring something to the team rather than just a nationality.

Loved this performance, reminded me of our 13 win streak last season, Willian & Pedro were having fun, the team was organized. Morata also looks much better on the ball than Costa & his goal record so far has spoke for itself. I'm hopeful but I still think we need some more players in this team which many would agree, rotation, hopefully we can at least get one wide player in before the window shuts.

What do people think of our bench? We have Cahill & Hazard to come back, starting 11 looks strong. But the depth of the team? Is it really enough to compete with City & United, that's what we want right? We are title winners but what will it take to win titles in the new Premier League era? Just want to pick peoples brain a bit here, what are all your thoughts?

15th but not doomed, a win against Spurs and the Burnley game will be forgotten. I don't think we've ever looked good without Hazard anyway, he's the key.

I stumbled upon this article & I can find no source whatsoever to indicate that the squad is unhappy with Rudiger. Nothing viable, nothing even stating it's "inside sources"

How so? We have one of the richest owners in the world.

Instead of sacking the managers we should sack who's making the ridiculous decisions to not go out and go on a spending spree after we win the title. It happened the last two times, the third time we've done it again, we might have spent big on two players but we've balanced the books still. Is that really a good thing? If we aren't upgrading, we seem to be like Arsenal. So far we have the 2nd best net spend out of the top 6, below Spurs. That's -12 million, and we are still yet to sell Diego Costa. Morata I highly rate, I think he'll be an upgrade on Diego Costa, Boko I don't think is an upgrade on Matic & nobody replaces Terry easily. I'm sorry to come across grim as a new poster but I can't help but vent my concerns on here because I am deeply worried about the way this club is going in the long term, is this our purpose? Sack a manager, next one wins a trophy, sack him the next season when he underperforms? City has spent 200 million when they already had a very good squad, United the same, why aren't we willing to be up there with the Manchesters who are hoping to monopolise the PL?

Oh dear, it seems that way. The market for average English players has become big for the wrong reasons, regulation. Nothing whatsoever to do with quality, I don't think it's a brave move, Oxlade Chamberlain would've been a wise move for rotation I believe if we needed to bring in more English players.

For me that's not the issue, Matic was a good transfer. He wasn't compatible with our system, he was by far our worst performer last season. The only issue was Fabregas was/is lethargic, but the issue is getting a replacement for him. It's unfortunate Boko is out, but I'm not keen on his transfer anyway, he is a much more solid defensive outfit than Matic is, but I think he's a poor footballer from what I've seen of him. Regardless I still think we lack too much depth to compete with the Manchesters, that for me is the sole issue, Matic good transfer, that can all be forgotten if we make it worthwhile, so far we haven't.

It's a long season but you can't help wondering if we've had another bad summer transfer window, just like the last two times we won the league. Fair enough we've signed big money players in Boko & Morata, but what's really improved about the side overall? The end of last season Moses was tiring, our width wasn't as strong, yet we've signed no wide players to help with rotation. Why is this? Manchester City has spent another 200 million this season when they barely needed to improve. I can't help but fear the inevitable for Conte if we don't get at least another 2 signings before the window closes.
