What is the point of a winger who won’t take on the full back ??? Hudson oh-dear only takes a pass and gives it back, usually in the opposite direction to the goal which we are attacking, he doesn’t have any belief or confidence to push it and go - a couple of times he was on the halfway line and he didn’t fancy taking on the full back and the amount of time he is just in no mans land ball watching - he makes so that when he plays we are a man down IMO

Speaking of fractured footballers and confidence, Hudson Oh-Dear is another example of such - he got a chance on Wednesday to show what he could do against a championship team that missed relegation by a point last season and he failed , instead he produced his normal “rabbit in the headlights” display and it was evident that he was, once again, clueless and not capable of taking the opportunity ? His problems may be surrounding the Achilles injury, but he doesn’t have the confidence or the ability to play CL level football - if Bayern are still interested, then my vote is to get shot. Similarly, Mr Abraham was given the same opportunity and he grabbed in with both arms - he looked alive, he looked interested, he looked like he was really enjoying himself - Frank couldn’t have asked for anything more and must have been delighted - well done and congrats Tammy A. Finally, Mr too Cool For School, Loftus-Cheek is also doing a great impression of Hudson Oh-Dear, he gets opportunities and he looks less than interested, wether that’s because of where he’s picked to play or whatever I dunno, but it isn’t going to work without getting involved and showing some spirit - you could argue that Barkley is a lesser player than LC, that he doesn’t have the physical presence, gives the ball away too much etc but Barkley always seems to put in a shift, he looks like he wants to play. Frank may well pick Kepa, Oh-Dear and RLC today to give them opportunities and to give rest to others for the season ahead, but it doesn’t fill me with excitement and make me look forward to the game. Be good when all the squad is available - hopefully in time for the Mancs ??

Morning all, sadly the reality of the goalkeeping situation is that “someone” sanctioned the purchase of Kepa for in excess of £70 million and we bought a pup, if he wasn’t before his most recent displays, Kepa is now worthless - no interest from anywhere, even a loan move it would seem. However, no matter how wealthy anyone might be, they are not gonna write off that kind of money without at least trying to prove the asset and get a return - so I can imagine that frank will be under some pressure and influence to play Kepa, especially against the lesser lights in the premiership in the hope that he might have a half decent display and attract interest and maybe try to instil some confidence into a fractured footballer ?

I like the sound of your choice of goalkeeper, presumably you have some physical disability like a missing limb, are blind in one eye, need beer bottomed glasses to see shadows with the other one, have diabetes, severe irritable Bowel syndrome, are no taller than wee jimmy cranky and an inability to jump - otherwise you’d have an unfair advantage over ‘mike yarwood’ (A terrible impersonator of a goalkeeper) - any ideas as to why we didn’t go after the recent villa signing of Martinez @ 16-20 million he’s “cheap” and proven in the PL ?? BTW - you might have something in picking Barkley, he’s a blue and presumably hates them more than the rest of us - the game might mean more to him and his family etc etc, could give him an extra % ??

It’s mystifying to me that BM are showing interest, because on the one hand you are correct, he’s young, he has a youth team reputation and he has, arguably , potential, but he’s never produced a standard or level of performance against any PL team and quite frankly, I personally don’t see any chance of him developing into a top 4 and CL player, as much as I might wish it ? Don’t think the coaches at CFC will be able to get a tune out of him and it’s obvious (to me) that he doesn’t believe in himself, has little or no confidence in his own ability and doesn’t have what it takes to compete at the highest level - cut him loose and let him find his level ?

I think it’s a question of sizism (is that a word?) @ 5’5’’ I guess he’s considered to be too small but hey, Little Legs Matter too, and coombsie 100% correct about free wheeling on a big contract and he isn’t the only one

I NEVER said we were wrong to let him go, I questioned who made the decision that he could go (irrespective of who instigated the move) and yet still keep Hudson oh-dear - having seen oh-dear play on numerous occasions, I have never understood the fuss and frankly, in last nights game, saw more potential from Lamptey at either a wing back or a winger than I have ever seen from Oh-dear.

I wasn’t put James up against Lamptey - truthfully, I didn’t really appreciate who Lamptey was before recent v Brighton games - he played ok and was probably correctly given MoM - My issue is and always has been is what do people see in Hudson oh-dear that I don’t see ? He’s too scared of making a mistake that he ends up doing nothing at all - don’t think he’s got it in him to be a top 4 squad player , I don’t think it’s a question of confidence I suspect it’s everything to do with a lack of ability imoh?

I thought the point of a forum was to express views and opinion ? You don’t have to agree and you can bury your head as much as you wish, but winning 3-1 against a team that we were arguably the better side on the night and that will struggle to achieve better than mid table Isn’t good enough - in my opinion

Besides, right back , shiltz back - there isn’t such a thing anymore in 21st century football - Playing multiple systems and formations the only differentiation between players now days is wether they use the left foot, right foot, both feet or their hands - that’s it as far as I can tell - hence my point about using an obviously talented player like Alonso as a forward rather than at the back , in a 4, 4,2 combo he looks suspect but play him in a 3 , 5 , 2 and he looks ok at the back

Not really, my question is to question the decision makers at Chelsea who rate players like Hudson oh-dear as potentially going to “make it” , when it’s pretty obvious that he isn’t good enough for a top 4 premier league team - granted Lamptey May not be a top 4 player either, but he was better than most last night. I appreciate it’s not a crystal ball thing but these guys are supposed to be knowledgeable about this ??? Seriously reckon I could do no worse! Similarly, who gave Kepa - known by me as mike yarwood cause he does an terrible impression of a goalkeeper - the nod @ 70+ Million? Besides not being especially talented in the goal keeping dept , he’s way tooooooo small for a top 4 keeper , never mind Mendy why didn’t we go after Martinez ? A snip @ 16 million.

On another note, how about converting Alonso into a no.9 - tall, athletic, good in the air, great left peg, excellent ball control - got to be worth a shout and would give Giroud and Abrahams a run I reckon ?
