Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"
Because if you show up at Tony Bloom's poker table with dices and a Yahtzee score sheet, you're in for a ride. Anyway, looks like you'll get Moises now. Don't know what the final price will be - £120m? - but quite convinced it is the best signing you've made in A LOT of years.

1. Why would you do that? 2. Why is it honorable? Every club owner in the English professional and semi-professional leagues spend a lot of money each week to make people have a football team to support. Due to player & agent power, wages are silly and a lot of clubs are under severe threat, pushing ticket prices and TV subscriptions to levels that are often impossible to afford for the average guy. If anything, clubs (including Brighton) should try to reclaim club power because how it currently works is just not sustainable if you want football to remain a sport of the people. f**k the players and f**k the agents. Can't wait for some sort of rule limiting the earnings of footballers and their agents, would be a really good change for everyone involved except for the filthy rich players and their agents.

Klopp did not look very happy when he described that the clubs had reached an agreement. I don't think you can rule out Caicedo just yet. My guess is that Chelsea would pay him better than Liverpool would. Obviously you would have to raise your bid to make it happen. And you'll have to do it pretty much now, not next week or the week after. If you're going to f**k around the rest of the window about the £10m extra that Liverpool put in, Tony will have none of it and keep the player another year.

I go every week to watch Lunds FF in the Swedish 6th tier. I do it because football is a very entertaining sport and because I like to hang out with the other 20 people who come there each week each year. Same reason why a couple of 100k people go and watch non-league football in England each week. Like I said, loving football and loving the football community is the reason for us - not for all. For some people football, like people supporting the big six or Real/Barca, it is only about titles and glory. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but you are dead wrong if you think people supporting smalling teams would rather be like you.

Absolutely, it is a nothing team to the small percentage of football fans who think titles are the only thing that matters.

Yes, it is small club mentality. Chelsea is a much bigger club. But contrary to what supporters of United/City/Chelsea/Liverpool/Spurs/Arsenal believe, supporting the underdog - in football and in life - is actually not all that bad. People are different. "Bigger", "richer" and "more famous" is not all that important to everyone. Backstreet Boys got a lot of fans, Coca Cola a lot of consumers, Chelsea a lot of people watching. But would I switch any of the for my local indie band, my local brewery or my not-so-local favorite club? Nope.

Agree with almost everything you're saying. Quite likely we'll return to the Championship in the next decade. Happens to most clubs and it is difficult for British clubs like Brighton to compete financially with clubs from the US, Saudi Arabia and so forth. However, it should be said that with Tony Bloom in charge, we have a decent chance of beating the odds. Money is important, but competence is not too bad either. You're right Billy could be a class player under the right conditions and you are also right that Chelsea perhaps isn't the right environment, just like it wasn't for De Bruyne, Salah, Guehi and a bunch of other players. Chelsea is the kind of environment that makes young players think "ok, I'm really, really good and they're playing Ruben Loftus-Cheek instead of me", and that environment certainly isn't for everyone. Agree with the mistake. Massive (or mainstream, as you might also call it) clubs can't just recruit a couple of guys from a smaller club and try to copy that success. Steve's Burger Joint may make the better burgers, but you can't have a McDonalds without Ronald. Just different ways of running things. And I also agree that the few times you hear Brighton and Chelsea mentioned in the same breath is when it comes to transfers. No one is going to mention both clubs when talking about clubs playing in Europe next season. No one is going to mention both clubs when talking about getting value for money. No one is going to mention both clubs when it comes to comparing the quality of football, the quality of how the clubs are ran etc. You also have a lot more Twitter followers, which I'm sure is going to be a great comfort when Billy Gilmour nutmegs Tyler Adams to make it 0-3 at Stamford Bridge in December, during Frank Lampards first game in charge. You are indeed the top echelon of football. Lots of Twitter followers, big name signings, tabloid headlines... A massive club. Just not very good at football. In short, I agree with you.

Tyler Adams
Tyler Adams is excellent when the ball is around him, but when it comes to working without the ball - SO poor. Watch the goals the US conceded in the World Cup and watch goals that Leeds conceded this season, and you'll find a player who is either too dumb or too lazy not to track the runs of the opponents. Don't understand what you're doing... either sign a really good player who can make a difference today or use one of your dozen talented midfielders and accept it'll be a struggle for a while. No one would talk about this bloke if he wasn't American.

Ben White and Dan Burn are both starters in top 4 teams. Trossard went to Arsenal in January and produced one goal and 10 assists in 930 minutes of game time. Yves Bissouma, after a season of injuries and Antonio Conte, has looked Spurs best player in the pre-season. 1. Its not about "goodwill". 2. If it is somehow about Todd Boehly & co being into "goodwill", stop it - this is the Premier League, not a pub league. What relevancy does that have? Is that why you sold us Alexis Mac Allisters replacement - Billy Gilmour - for £10m? "He's Scottish, must be sh*t". No one really wants to be with you or anyone, except maybe Barca, Real or City. Everyone is chasing the money and Caicedo and 99% of all footballers won't give a sh*t exactly what club that increases their wages five or tenfold. All that said, will be interesting to see who you will sign now instead, and I look forward to next summer and the battle for Billy Gilmour.

Maybe next year when you're going to pay £100m for Evan Ferguson.

Robert Sanchez joins Chelsea
Yup, his distribution is excellent as long as he doesn't have to get TOO involved with a lot of tricky short passing in his own penalty area. Sanchez main weakness is his ability on 1on1s as he has pretty poor timing when it comes to rushing out. Distribution is fine, gathering crosses and corners is fine, shot stopping on the line is excellent. IMHO De Zerbi saying that Steele fits his style better was just bollocks - I just don't think De Zerbi liked Sanchez and I don't think Sanchez was too happy without Ben Roberts at the club. Not blaming RDZ and not blaming Sanchez - some people just don't function well together.

We've got a new Kepa
Yes. A Graham Potter-stalking Brighton fan.

We've got a new Kepa
Good deal for Brighton if the last year is anything to judge from. But if Rob reaches his full potential, which is exceptional, it is a clever, bargain move for you boys.
-
Levi Colwill
Colwill has massive potential, but you need to remember he was a backup for Brighton last season... not a starter, not a key player. Not winning any leagues for you this season. But if you're patient (for once), this could turn out to be the best deal you've done all summer.
-
We've got a new Kepa
He had a very "meh" season, but before Ben Roberts (who he has worked with for about 10 years) left to join you, he was really good. Especially his aerial ability is something extra. If he is better than Kepa or not... don't think so actually. But less prone to making big mistakes.

We've got a new Kepa
Some very good sources saying you're chasing Robert Sanchez. Boehly appears to think it is a lot of fun negotiating with Tony Bloom. Bit of a masochist would be my guess.

Who says £100m will be enough for you to get him? Negotiating with Brighton works like this: there's no demands. There's no "if you pay £100m, you'll get him". You make bids, Tony shakes his head until he hears a fee that he agrees with. If you don't have a defensive midfielder at deadline day and go into "negotiations" with Bloom, it is going to get VERY expensive.

Part of the Brighton way of doing things are indeed making deals that favour the club. I know that makes Tony Bloom & co a bit strange when looking from it from a Chelsea point of view.

Is that the new club slogan?

Brighton with Caicedo has a 69% win ratio, which is utterly obscene. Before he stepped in in the final quarter of the 22/23 season, Brighton had a win ratio of about 30%. I think a lot of people here really underestimate the quality of this player. Feel free to walk away. Won't be any cheaper next year.

Generational DMC, far better than Rice and better than Mac Allister (to compare with other midfielders targeted/signed by top clubs). Whether he goes to your club or not remains to be seen but wherever he ends up (and at whatever price), he's going to make the fans of his club absolutely delighted once they see him on the pitch.

Lewis Hall - Our next big Homegrown prospect!
Said after his debut that he'll play for England within three years. Going to be world class unless you screw him up.

Rank the signings
From a neutral: 1. Benoit Badiashile 7/10 - I think he looks like a very promising defender and if he is developed wisely he should become a world class defender 2. Enzo Fernandez 5/10 - getting a lot of praise but I think he has, at best, been bang average - but there is definitely potential 3. Noni Madueke 5/10 - see above. 4. Carney Chukwu...sometihng 5/10 - has really played too little to be judged but I think he looks a decent talent. £20m looks a bit expensive maybe. 5. Wesley Fofana 4/10 - you can see bits and pieces of potential but he has usually been quite bad 6. Marc Cucurella 3/10 - struggles off the pitch did a job on him I think. He's been sh*te but I actually think Cucurella will end up being a useful signing for Chelsea. 7. Joao Felix 3/10 - you kind of see why Atletico paid massive money for him... and why they were eager to get rid of him. 8. Mykhailo Mudryk 2/10 - has some qualities but lacks in a lot of departments. Getting some Adrian Mutu vibes. I think maybe he's not very good and might not become it either. 9. Kalidou Koulibaly 2/10 - too slow for the Premier League. He seems a nice bloke but it is a terrible signing. 10. Raheem Sterling 1/10 - Pep let him go because he is done. Finished. All the wins for City has taken the hunger out of him. 11. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 0/10 - I struggle to see this as anything but an attempt from Tuchel to troll Boehly. Along with Koulibaly and Cucurella, this (a striker) was one of the signings that Chelsea had to get right but got very, very wrong. Lukaku might have been bad but is still twice the player Auba is.

Mykhailo Mudryk signs for Chelsea
Where would he go? Who would pay him whatever Chelsea are paying him? Selling is not an option - need to work with the bloke as a person and as a player. Young guy, it is possible for him to improve.

Mykhailo Mudryk signs for Chelsea
Not sure he was mocking the bloke? Might have missed something but I think Mudryk only filmed him and posted it. Sure, could be a mocking, but I'd consider it equally likely that he was impressed by the physique and desire shown by the man on the video - probably not seen anything like it since he came to Chelsea.
