We need to sack Potter immediately!! Its all his fault!!...........................wait a minute! 😕

We dominated Liverpool yesterday, recently we've dominated all our games, if Villa only need 4 shots at goal to score twice how many goals would they get with 27 shots at goal? Fact is our approach play is good, dominating the game is the hardest part of football, of course we can all see how woeful we are at converting chances (probably the worst I've EVER seen at any club) and we know how there is a f*ck up or two every game at the back but in all honesty we are not that far from being an elite team again. Put it this way of the two teams yesterday I thought we looked 'closer' to being the real deal than Liverpool did.

Reading through this thread there is SO much doom and gloom!! We football fans are a funny bunch - I thought I would bring some positivity, here goes:- Fact is as a team we are starting to dominate the games and that is the hard part, some of our forward play is exceptional (up to a certain obvious point of course), how a team can out shoot an opponent 27 to 4 and lose 0-2 is pretty incredible in its own right when you think about it BUT it SURELY means that we are 'close' to putting something promising together no? Kante is back and that is a HUGE positive for any team! Enzo looks class, and our 'new' signings are starting to 'settle'. I am still feeling positive about our future......................AS LONG AS WE GIVE OUR NEXT MANAGER TIME!!

At what point do you stop blaming Potter - who wasn't anywhere near the stadium and start putting some blame on the players!!! ?

Same game as the last 70 or so I've seen, lots of possession, lots of chances - 0 goals. 27 shots v Villa (TWENTY SEVEN!) and NO goals! 12 shots v Liverpool and NO goals NO goals return off of 39 shots at goal! I think we've had more goals disallowed and more hits on the woodwork than we've had goals recently! A couple of weeks ago I joked that we were cursed......................now I'm not so sure its a joke! :-D

We definitely deserved to go through, were the better team over both games, at times we played some bloody good football, if only we could 'finish' more chances! for periods in games we look a bit shaky and yet at other times we look imperious, if we could keep that up for 90 minutes we will be some team. Now the injuries are clearing and Potter has finally had some time to work with some of his best players we are slowly starting to improve, lets hope that keeps on being the case, I'm hoping that by the end of the season we are starting to really 'fire' on all cylinders. To think that we still have Kante to return yet, lets hope that we 'push on' starting with Leicester.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Leeds, Felix double and Aubamayang with one from the bench, this is when the pieces start to fall into place! I'm thinking one day at some point we WILL score a goal, it's inevitable isn't it? A deflection of somebody's a*se, a bizarre own goal, a penalty, a free kick! Something has to happen at some point!

We were NOT in the top 4 when he took over, and even IF we had a 'top 4' squad he has still yet to get it on the pitch.

It was another god-awful non-call, rivalling the one we didn't get called when Cucarella was yanked over by his hair! Trouble is though managers can rant and rave after the game all they like it won't make a bit of difference to what happened. In fact managers that go over the top usually find themselves sent to the stands for a game or two. Maybe Potter realises the hopelessness of calling Swarbrick the t*** that he is.

I can't believe some of what I'm reading on here! He has had TWENTY ONE games FFS! Give him at least a bloody season!!! What is it with (some) Chelsea supporters (and I use the term supporters lightly here!). He hasn't even ONCE had the ability to pick his best team let alone the time to create something!! Klopps first 18 games: W 7 D 5 L 6 Arteta's first 18 games:- W 8 D 6 L 4 Potter's first 17 games:- W 7 D 4 L 6 You can bet your life both Liverpool and Arsenal supporters are now bloody glad their boards weren't as 'trigger happy' as (some) Chelsea supporters (and I use that term lightly) are!

Deserved to win this game, first half we were head and shoulders above them. Second half faded a bit, I'm feeling positive for the future. Finally - Soucek's handball - what the actual f*ck!!? He's actually saved that, why exactly did VAR not do its job? Why do officials keep f*cking us over with VAR? Seriously if that was the other way round it would have been awarded (and rightly so), honestly after Cucarella got pulled down by his hair against Spurs I didn't think I'd see such a blatant bad decision with VAR again........let alone again later in the season!

Question is when Potter has time with his best players and we can finally judge him properly what are all the supporters (actually they're obviously not supporters so Potter haters) on here going to do? When we start looking good will they be so hypocritical that suddenly they'll think he's the best thing since sliced bread?

Newcastle couldn't beat West Ham at home last weekend & Newcastle are currently better than us! Liverpool (on our level) got thrashed by relegation threatened Wolves, Arsenal (best team in England) lost to Everton. Go into ANY Premier League game thinking you just have to turn up to win and you will lose.

Why are the stakes far bigger now? If anything the 'stakes' have never been bigger than they were in the early eighties - the clubs very existence was at stake in the early eighties, we were broke, playing in a run down stadium which we didn't own and our team was awful, If Clive walker hadn't scored that winner at Bolton it might have been the end of us.

Ha ha! I don't remember much myself, I do remember people complaining about the 'style' of football, attendances were at an all time (top flight) low too, though that was the case for a lot of clubs back then (because of the hooliganism at the time I think). Porterfield followed Campbell, I think we finished 11th under Porterfield and 14th after Hoddles first season! Thing is though Hoddle totally revolutionised our style of play and for a while REALLY struggled to get results, however things did eventually start to click and from Hoddle onwards things just got bettter and better. I'm hoping that Potter is the catalyst for a repeat performance...............I just hope the board are as patient with him as it was back then with Hoddle.

Wasn't it Porterfield (sacked) then Webb (interim), then Hoddle? Wasn't Porterfield famed for playing the turgid 'long ball' style?

Great post, this is spot on! What's happened to our supporter base? When did it get so.........PSG! :-(, I am old enough to remember the Hoddle years, this right now reminds me a LOT of Hoddles first season in charge, that turned out rather nicely - only because the board stuck with Hoddle though - it could have been SO very different if they hadn't! Maybe right now we would be in the Championship still playing 'Porterfield ball'!? 🙂

I don't want to see Havertz in a blue shirt ever again! I'm sick of him 'gently' jogging around doing f*ck all! Same goes for Ziyech really, provides one good cross every 30 games and f*ck all else! Mount has turned into a headless chicken. There was one team of players going down with cramp, another that had a few players that didn't even break into a sweat! Fulham were dirty f*ckers and the ref let them get away with it.......at least it showed they were putting some effort in though! I thought Fofana looked a little lively, certainly more lively than Havertz.........having said that granny was more lively than Havertz and she's been dead for 10 years! Why the hell couldn't we get rid of Ziyech a couple of days ago? And why the hell are we playing him two days later? We didn't deserve to win that game, we didn't deserve to lose either, 0-0 was about 'right', god-awful game entertainment wise, Fulham came to frustrate knowing that Havertz is as much use as a chocolate tea spoon and they got what they came for! Please, please, please lets drop the dross once and for all and give all the 'new' boys their chance, Felix in for Havertz next game is surely a given. Positives - we've 'tightened' up at the back, Badiashie, Fofana, the return of James, the return of Chilwell Negatives - Havertz, Ziyech is still with us, Havertz, our lack of potency up front, Mount turning into a headless chicken, Havertz, Mudryk (did he play today), Havertz, the result & Havertz. Oh and why do we lose all the 50-50's? Havertz does for obvious reasons but why has the rest of the team caught his disease?

4-0 Wow, the last time we had a revamped squad 'gel' that quickly was August 1983! :-D, though to be fair they had a pre-season playing together, I'm not so sure that new players are going to gel that quickly without a bit of (match) time playing together. I hope that with every passing game we see improvement until eventually we are sh*t hot!

Even without the signings we would have been much improved AS LONG AS OUR INJURIES SUBSIDED that is, now Potter can use the rest of this season getting the best of the 'old boys' blending play with the 'new boys', by the time next season starts we should be in a much better place. I hope an pray James stays healthy, he is a MASSIVE cog in our machine even with the substandard rubbish that (some) have been around him we looked so much better with him in the team.

Anybody that knows anything about football knows that you don't just 'throw together' a load of good players and immediately you are a great team!! Thankfully it looks like the powers that be realise this (for a change) and will give Potter the time and the players to do his job.
