Had a few in the Holte end around kick off too :D

Am new to this site, but am loving the old memories.
I remember a QPR away game midweek in I think 1980 in the old 2nd Div. I was 13 years old, it was my first away game, told my mum I was nipping out to meet a mate and watch TV !
 
We obviously packed out the away end, but before kick off weren't quite sure how many other Chels were in the ground. In those days the teams ran out individually, home team first. As the QPR team ran out, what seemed like the the whole ground erupted with "who the f*****g hell are you ?"  When Chelsea ran out we could see that their whole home end was basically Chelsea. As a Chelsea mad kid at their first away game I loved it ! 

Good find,never seen that before. When chelsea ran up to the county end, the whole lot of em legged it up the back of the terraces,couldnt have been more than 1000 of them and it was there promotion game. wouldnt mind but there was an 8ft fence in the way! keep em comming m8 some rare stuff on there

Think quite a few have made various transitions over the years.
My own as follows:
North terrace as a kid with my dad and his mates with occasional seats in East stand, or West Stand and players lounge (we had juniors / trialists lodging in our spare room from time to time as he had friends at the club, so got free tickets)
Shed end as a young teenager
Benches from about 16
Gate13 a couple of years later, and lots of away matches for 4/5 seasons in early 80s (that was really fun!)
Season ticket in West Stand upper (half way line near the front)
Then got married and moved away so only occasional away games, the odd home game when in London, and trips to Wembley for ZDS cup finals (or whatever it was called) & random league cup away games midweek
Work then meant tricky to make games, as travel a lot, I mean a lot, to Africa, Asia, U.S., South America, but now manage to pick up 3 or 4 champions league away games (manage to fit business trips with fixture list and clients can always get me tickets)
Alway track down local bars wherever I am in the world to watch games as well so see most games in strange bars in the middle of nowhere
Pick up a few games at the bridge most seasons as well, and random away games (places like Swansea, Newcastle, depending on travel if in UK)

you are right Harrow, but once you hit 40/50.................your time has past. The youth dont embrace it now. They really dont know what they are missing. Because football without the edge is just sh*t.

It was the sense of belonging,camaraderie and a chance to experience being on the edge of terror !
S'funny,although the films about fv are all generally rubbish the common thread in all of them is that they get right the first moment the younger character gets involved and the adrenalin rush he gets .
I can remember being absolutely terrified at what was going on around me seeing mates get hurt and the sound of glass smashing,loud shouts and screams until all of a sudden the moment came when you knew you had to do what you gotta do.
Afterwards it felt like you'd lost your viginity and you wanted to do it again and again............and again!
Not condoning it just telling it how it was.
The exuberence of youth.

Its strange....I was reminissing (?) about my young chelsea days......When i saw what i saw at Tottenham circa 67/68, i wondered why a boy as young as i was (12) and a placid young fellow too, was so taken by the chelsea fans doing the do in the park lane end.....Id never felt violent as a kid and was an avid animal protecter then......Cant put my finger on the thing that flicked a switch in my psyche to enjoy footy stuff like that in an immediate way.......Now id better watch my self at nearly 60 (this year) in case spudos want to rain blows on my ageing body........

Everything about that millwall picture seems like something from a history book. Fighting, no seats, no women,no oldies, no tourists. Just young lads at the match. Great days!

When would you say our firm was at its strongest? I'm going mid nineties. They probably didn't see as much activity as 10 years earlier, but before the banning orders kicked- the thing with the banning orders was many of their mates also dropped out with them- they used to share lifts, if he's not going Im not going etc etc
If you look back at the Millwall games in 97- the West Stand was a zoo that night- even Millwall fans admit we were much more impressive than them over 2 games, and that's saying something. That's my take on a subject which isn't everyone's cup of tea. What's yours?

I have to say that playing against spurs anytime is and must always be my favourite match........Nothing beats this setting up of two tribes against each other in the 70s....I enjoyed spuds away last season especially with the nerves of walking down spud high road with some of our Blues when we got off at BG.....Im old and more like Mr Burns now BUT it makes me feel young again..Im looking forward to them at ours this season and must do the trip to the BRIDGE with or without dough and with or without a ticket...I need to breath this scenario on a yearly (ish) basis to feel good inside....The times i do miss have me in a state of sadness......I hate you spuds.....BUT sort of love you too in a weird way

gotta say that was a tremendous effort by our fans up at Anfield, When you are outnumbered 15-1 and the home support is so up for it its easy to give up as you can be totally drowned out.The sad thing is liverpool fans buy into the media bollocks about them being "the best fans in the world"

Remember leaving this one early to queue up for Luton, I think, tickets and missed the two goal comeback.
That was mad back then, the way they used to put away tickets on sale after a home game, which ment large numbers of fans would be leaving early to join the queue, and end up missing the end of the game they had just paid to watch.Customer service was great back then! But then, we werent "customers" - we were hardcore fans, the more misery the better we loved it! Nothing nicer than a 5 hour trip to carlisle for a 0-0 draw in the rain, watching on an open terrace, with HT scores comming via an old fella sliding slate numbers into letters of the alphabet, so that unless you had a rain soaked programme you didnt have a clue! Those were ironically great, great days. Gone forever thank f**k, but i am oh so glad i experienced them, because you had a real bond with yer fellow travelling chelsea fans back then. we are blue we are white - we are f**king dynamite!
