  1. Bates was certainly a top bloke in my book. He paid for my mates defence when he was pulled out of the crowd for making a gesture at the semi final up in Sunderland (the hearing was just after Heysel but the barrister was top notch and the case was dismissed) and then several years later he overheard the ticket office manager refusing to take my cheque for 6 Blackburn away tickets(Zolas debut) and made him look are right mug by telling me he would take my cheque but not to let him down.
  2. I remember getting the bus to the bridge at 6am and then queuing 3 hours to get a ticket for this one

  4. didnt get to the bridge in time! Fans were already clearing pitch and was told they had enough volunteers. So went to the cafe down Fulham Road near the tube!! That was for the Leicester game I think.Bloody hell, the Stamford Bridge Cafe, had many early morning meets in there. sh*t food but some great photos on the wall.
  5. I will never forget the jingle bells after the 4-3 win at Goodison mid 80s followed by our whole end singing "always look on the bright side of life" as the golf balls went flying backwards and forwards!

  7. Remember the 4-3 win when they won the league mid eighties, they were lobbing golf balls over all through the game then melted afterwards.....always used to stick together up there.

  13. What a great photo. I started in the west side then used to get in at 1.30 to get a position sitting on the white wall. Progressed to Benches, Teabar and Gate 13 over the years. Happy days.
  14. Kevin Mccallister used to spend a lot of time in the Playboy bookies opposite the ground. We used to chat to him a bit but he was a quiet lad.
  15. I was at the 1974 win as a 12 year old. My family are all Arsenal and that was the only time I saw us win there until the 5-0 League Cup game and then our last ever game at Highbury when Robben and Cole scored. Should have beaten them in the Cup replay early 70s when Ray Kennedy went down outside the box for a very dubious pen and they went on to win 2-1. That game upset me the most as a youngster. Quarter finals were few and far between for the next 20 odd years. Also remember us losing there in the league cup when Brian Bason broke his leg. Would love to see footage of either game if anyone has it.

  17. That must have been the game then. They came from the bottom corner and it seemed like half the end went in to them. A good mate of mine who I was standing with was involved so I remember it clearly as we didn't get involved much. Hated them with a passion.
  18. I know its nearly 30 years ago but I was there and I can tell you it went off in that bottom corner of the south bank and West Ham got smashed. I cant remember which one of the 3 games though.

  20. I think the pikeys ran across from the chicken run into the bottom corner that day but didn't last long. Half of the end made a beeline for them. Those first 2 seasons back our support was awesome.
  21. I went to every game those first 2 seasons after promotion, no one could live with us except the pikeys back then!
  22. Im pretty certain thats me walking along the bottom with the leather jacket and faded jeans. We spent the game sliding on that muddy bank. Dixon got 4 if thats the game.
  23. West Ham away 1978, 15 years old and I was in the South Bank with my mate with chelsea scarf around my neck and silk scarf on my wrist(bit stupid I know but thought I would be ok as had no problems before). 2.55 and some proper big lumps start the "united" chant. Everyone scatters and the next thing I know I am being kicked to f@@k by some 30 something lump with a donkey jacket. No Chelsea response and very poor following that day. I spent the rest of the game on my own in the corner sh*tting myself. Lost 3-1 as well! Always hated them after that. Sick f@ckers beating up kids!
