I fear that player power has won the day, which will block the badly needed rebuilding if they bring Jose back he will look after Drogba, Terry and lampard for the next season, we won't win anything, and chance to rebuild will have been lost trying to recapture good days! We need fresh start with a manager who will control the players and off load the old guard, otherwise we will become stagnent very quickly, and players will continue to control the club. Any new manager needs to address, clear out the oldies, and rebuild, and be given time to do so

i can't believe so many don't accept that players have been the reason for the decline thise season, and AVB sacking. And yes they are the very same players we all have considered top players for chelsea, Lampard, Terry and Drogba, and others, we can't be blinkered to this

thank you for such a well argued point.No one wants to admit that things are wrong within the club, but clearly something IS, and which players have been awkward, surely Lampard, Terry and Drogba are the most likely ones? And the club and futures sucess is more critical than a player. I am sure MANU fans hated the end of Beckham, but the club succeded without him... we will be better without the three! .. yes thanks for the good times etc, but time to say bye

NO.. i didn't suggest the surgery was his tactic, I imagine he was stirring stuff up with Lampard and Drogba, and you are thick if you can't open mind to actually believe that is possible

It may be tough to accept, but Terry is capable of playing games, and I sense (yes it is a SENSE, and opinion), that he has been messing things up for AVB... he would do with Lampard, and Droga would be in the "club"... I also always sense he was behind the unrest in the England world cup squad. Terry is capable of acting like baby. We must stop using rose coloured glasses... He is probably guilty of Racism, was not the nicest guy to one of his "friends" when he was up to "no good" with his ex.... and I do believe he thinks he is more important than he is to chelsea..... as fans we must start to wake up, any new manager needs Fans support, and to have power to hire and fire his players, sadly I sense AVB was up against a wall of none support from certain players, who porbably had limited future with AVB around, they WIN today.. chelsea has to be winner in long run. NO player is bigger than club...

Have to laugh at a MCFC fan, whose team has done exactly same as Chelsea, lucky to get rich owner, and treats managers badly.. in fact i imagine the spoilt brats at MCFC (the players) are worse than the chelsea bunch!

The poison is Terry, Lampard and Drogba... that poison needs to be washed out of system before new manager appointed.

It is clear that the old guard of players who made life hard for AVB have won the day! Shows that a good business man, who owns a football club, can be made to look stupid when he tries to understand football. Any new manager will now have more problems to face! Lampard, Terry and Drogba need to be kicked! we need strong Manager, with full support to deal with these players, and let them know they do not control the club!

Nobody is suggesting new owner! but he has choice, support AVB and let him build fresh new team, suport him with cash.. and team for next 10 yrs! OR just let old guard rule, and get another manager in who licks the asses of Drogba, Lampard and terry.. holding team back for a few more seasons. We need to offload lampard, terry, drogba, and bring new youngsters in to build the team around.. AVB should be the guy to allow time and money to build that future

If you were in AVB position, who would you play? He can't win... we are expected to beat the championship team easily.. so pressure on chelsea. If he plays old guard, and we are beaten he will be blamed.... if risks younger and newer players AND we are beaten .. the old guard will win, starting .. "should have used experience" .. does he pick Torres? Drogba? lampard.. ... is big test.. If we win, no glory for him, as expected to win a struggling club So for AVB it is just chance to buy time?

indeed, he is honest, and does not hide behind excuses. Sadly the players just take their wages and are not earning it. I actually hope that AVB keeps job, and is given support to sort out the spoilt brats we have created.. Terry, Lampard, drogba et cetera.. overpaid, too comfy and not earning vast wages! apologies, but I do feel the older players won't get the team through this, and at same time, as a team must start taking responsibility. AVB is playing the teams most of us would select, so is it his fault? the players need to start stepping up their game, or accept time to move on

exactly, the players have to take responsibility... sadly the managers at chelsea don't get given time to build.... if we want constant sucess we need look no further than how Manu get it, back a good manager, and let him manage, fergie nevers lets players get too big for the club, I sense Roman allows player power rule, and hence old guard will win, and AVB will get push!
