Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
The nature if truth (as opposed to opinion) is a huge issue. There are very few instances, I reckon, when another person's considered view can be described as absolutely wrong (or vapid - poor choice of word there; you aren't going to convince anyone of your arguments by insulting them. Bluehatter's, etc views seem sound to me). I'm sounding condescending - soz. I appreciate the film info. Cheers for that onebelo.

Serious - off topic - question Onebelo: who is the girl in your avatar picture please? She's strikingly pretty.

Whoa - Maradona isn't out of form - he's 50! Who is in form at that age? (Thfc signs off in a confused mental state...)

Not often called that :-) Adebayor - three (3 !) league goals in EPL 2012-13. Good job we were not relying only on him.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
As supporters of 'big' teams, we think that 20+ goals-a-season strikers are the norm. However, at the top level of the game, the ability to score often, against first class defences is rare. This is (sorry to be obvious) why players attract £50 million price tags and, inter-alia, why Liverpool put up with Suarez. My point is that we can get too picky about strikers, and find fault too readily. You can't, imo, keep saying so-and-so is no Messi; who is? It's not a fair comparison. In a sense, only a big four team could have this sort of thread and not seem ridiculous. We're spoiled really and, as a result, some can't see the value or ability of Torres. P.s. you want to complain about a striker, try Adebayor for comparison :-)

Onebelo said: "...when he was one of the worst strikers in the world." The world? The ENTIRE World?!!! The WHOLE world?!!! Also "...lack of ability..."? I've seen him, in games for Chels, when his skill and delicacy on the ball have amazed me. He is a predator - world class? Yes. Out of form? Also yes, but he has class.

Sort of neutral view: I thought he posed a real threat. When he's in the area, he pulls defences out of shape and creates space other Chels players. The fifty million label is an albatross around his neck and, imo, skews the discussion of his abilities/form. He's definately improving and his growing confidence is clear to see. His past record is clear (pre Chels): worth keeping, I reckon.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Stating the obvious - only two people (and a few others, sworn to confidentiality) know facts about RA and JM. I want JM to come to the UK/Chels (would make next season v interesting) but JM will want a lot in place before he puts pen to paper; security of tenure, compo if RA loses the plot and makes him redundant, the final word on which players are signed, etc. I reckon the most we can say, with confidence, is that he wants a change and is considering offers, of which the CFC offer may be the most attractive.

Didn't know he'd called CFC 'soulless' After saying it, WTF take the job? Completely understand fans' dislike, after seeing that comment. Even if he's doing an o.k. job, at the mo, he can't 'un-say' his comments.

Well done Chels. In Amsterdam, whoever it was / whatever was said at half time, hope they say it before KO. Off now to see ITVs incisive analysis / BT / car ads.

Chelsea v Basel (EL) 02/05/13 KO 20:05 BST
It's the midfield - Basle are being given too much space and time. Chelsea are not, at the mo, challenging for 50/50 balls and are not matching Basle for pace and, tbh, effort. I hope that CFC are more assertive and positive, 2nd half.

Chelsea v Basel (EL) 02/05/13 KO 20:05 BST
(Not trolling - want CFC to win) Defence needs organising and midfield need to contest possession more. Basle will score, if things don't change, sadly.

Chelsea v Basel (EL) 02/05/13 KO 20:05 BST
This game is too open, at the mo. There's Chelsea possession but good chances for Basle are likely unless defence and midfield sort themselves out.

Where will the next generation Chelsea fan come from
I go to test maches, some County games and to 20-20s. You pay £30-40 but you're there (for a test, etc) all day, so it's good value. I see Dads and their kids at the football and, when you work out what it costs - travel, parking, food, tickets, etc, it's a big hit on their finances. Football is going to struggle, or become a middle class game as far as specators are concerned.
