  1. I've always thought Suarez a v good player, though a t*** personally. That is over. He's behaved like an animal and has no place in our game
  2. I was going to 'like' this but that seems inappropriate for a story such as this. V interesting account; that your life could hang on whether you were a good footballer is incredible. In the Concentration and Death camps, the possession of a trade (and a huge amount of other factors such as how healthy you appeared to the Selection Officer - the SS Officer who, in death camps, decided who to keep alive for work, and who to send to the gas chambers) could offer a slim chance of survival. Generally, someone with a 'hands-on' trade such as carpentry or bricklaying had a chance, albeit very slim, of avoiding the selection. However, at times of peak demand (in the death camps) there was sometimes no selection at all and whole train-loads of persons were sent directly to the chambers. Valletti was v lucky. Thanks for posting this.
  3. Thanks v much for advice. The narrow bit by door is about 3" across so appreciate the help :-)
  4. Yep. She doesn't understand the importance of preparation. She thinks I'm standing in the hall, drinking tea, aimlessly. She doesn't know that I'm in the plastering 'zone', thinking how I'm gonna tackle the tricky corners and that narrow bit by the front door...
  5. I promised the missus I'd plaster the hall walls (genuinely). We'd love another DM but if that hall isn't done, I'll get the old 'you've been promising to do that hall since 1945...' chat.
  6. I didn't see that question coming so this reply is not completely well thought out. The caveat to my comment is that I've seen JOM very little, in comparison to most posters. My honest impression is that he is an obviously skilled player who, for reasons I don't know, seems not to be in synch with fellow players. He has good ideas, in terms of passes and seeing opportunities, but his execution is sometimes poor and his team mates appear not to be expecting, and not positioned, for his intended moves. I think that JOM could definitely get into our first team. I don't think it would be a good idea only because we have some promising midfielders (Holtby, Huddlestone, etc) and I'd like to see them develop. For that reason, I wouldn't want us to sign him. If we did, however, it wouldn't be a bad thing - a squad with more depth is no bad thing. Why is this debate so heated? Serious question.
  7. I've read the most recent 50 percent of this thread (yes, I must get out more); It's more complicated than particle physics... No offence intended to any party to the discussion - an observation only.
  8. Totally agree re. the old firm - neither team is good enough, anyway. Thanks for the explanation.
  9. This is an interesting point. I don't know what your reason is but, having lived in Wales for 15 years, my impression is that most anti-English sentiment is expressed as banter, during the 6 nations. In football, most Welsh football fans that I know follow an English PL team and, during Internationals, follow or support England. Even those who don't follow England, usually don't wish any ill on us (unlike the Scots) I can't speak for West or North Wales. Sentiment may differ there. However, West or North Wales will never produce an EPL team so the most it will ever be is two teams.I'm pleased personally but would be interested in knowing why you are not chuffed.
  10. I'm based in South East Wales too and endorse your comments. Even fans who have supported Cardiff for 40 years are saying that the changes are a fact of modern footballing life. Cardiff have been so close to promotion these last few years, with out success, they accept the changes as a price worth paying. I'm not going to predict whether they'll stay up but the fans are made up at the idea of top teams (and Liverpool) being in Cardiff next season.
  11. Hear, hear...wanted to see the Luiz goal and thought there would be a mid week MOTD...
  12. I'm confident that Spurs can beat Southampton and Stoke but the City match will be v tough and the Wigan and Sunderland games are hard to call (together with us vs Chelsea). A better side than Newcastle would have punished Sunderland on Sunday but they are more of a challenge under di Canio. Fourth place would be good but mainly I want us to finish ahead of Arsenal. Will be happy with that as not sure we yet have a squad of the size/quality where pressures of Cl (money aside) won't sod up our league perfotmance.
  13. Just to chip in, I'd defo keep Torres, or welcome him at Spurs... There's a gap between what he cost and what he's done this season, but given his poor start, Torres is still a 25+ goals a season fwd. His confidence is coming on in bounds and, as a neutral, his work rate impresses. The Ba/Torres pairing looked a threat yest.
  14. Ta. As said, not meant to be a criticism; we (obviously) just fell out of the Uefa and made mistakes in that. Shame it's an 'oop north' final.
  15. I wanted Chelsea to win so the following is not a troll: From seeing the match on TV, 1.City burst out of the blocks; Chelsea seemed unprepared; 2. In the first half, Chelsea were reactive and City ran the match. Benitez reacted slowly, imo; 3. Foy seemed to have made up his mind that he wasn't going to 'spoil' the game by booking early and sendings off; this played into City's hands as they set out to be physical/dirty; 4. Chelsea subs made too late - they helped change the game when made and I wonder what impact they would have had if made sooner; 5. In the first 60 minutes, City were v good. They were allowed time and space and used it. Don't understand (apart from the obvious reason of Foy) why, in the midfield, Chelsea seemed reluctant to press City; I thought Chelsea showed real fight from 60+ minutes. Good effort and sorry you're not through lads.
  16. Hoping Chelsea win here but they need to sort out defence - leaving too much space and time to City - and also keep the ball more; wasting a lot of possession by seeming to rush. That half flew by so Chelsea need to change soon or game will pass them by.
  17. Yeah, not important in terms of what happened. Just an interesting aspect of human nature. Bad day today; upsetting seeing that girl in the crowd looking so frightened, on what should have been a top day out with her Dad.
  18. Everything's kicking off, police and fans are getting a kicking, and all some t***s can think of is filming it on their phone. Last two photos: girl top left corner and phone in hand, bottom left. Sometimes, society seems really f****d up.
  19. Apparently, the Chelsea volume of his memoirs will be called 'bellend at the shed end'. Appropriate cover.
  20. You b****r (no offence) -I've had a good, stress-free day until reading this. Now, doubt I'll be able to sleep...
  21. Prob seem a bit weird this but, you are a London club playing tom, so best of luck to you. Gonna be a tough match but I hope you do it. Small print: please note that my view may not be representative of that of all Spuds...
  22. Soz for the assumption there Moi. I've been lured - though I was only 8 - to Spurs from Palace; I can't do it again, though I'm sure that being on the dark side has its moments.
  23. Does this mean that, at the end of the last film, I'll find out you're my Dad?!! Perhaps you were a Spud, until you were lured to darkness?...
