guess they're trying to be more Welsh with the new crest. but having Malaysia as the sponsor doesn't scream national pride.

crest looks worse. they will probably swap the away and home shirts when the season starts.

My sympathies go out to all Cardiff fans. I just can't understand a club's owners doing this, they clearly have no regard or respect for the Cardiff fans or for the history of the club.

The Football League should step in when this happens without any say for the fans.

I remember when Batesy changed our socks to blue, and changed the club crest.

I'm still traumatised.

Apparently a lot of their fans have clamed down as the investment promised is large enough to placate them.

The thing that gets me is this business that red is seen as a strong colour in asia. Seeing as the asian market is so important to western football clubs thesedays could we end up with everyone wearing red just to please Chinese replica shirt purchasers? And if it is so important, do all sports teams in the far east wear red kits? I doubt it.

It's all bollocks anyway. Red means success? It didn't help Bayern Munich against a blue team last month did it!

Imagine if we woke up one morning to the news that Chelsea have changed to red and instead of a lion we have a flamingo or something.

I think I would jump out of the nearest window.

i could be wrong but did the majority of fans not support this idea?

No, they are totally against it, hence the reason the club came out a few months ago and said they were scrapping the plans, and then, lo and behold, they go and do it without telling anybody. Nice.

Apparently a lot of their fans have clamed down as the investment promised is large enough to placate them.

I'm not sure that's true, where did you hear this?

Personally, I'd rather be skint and play in the Ryman League than play in red.

Urgh.

I read it in the BBC Sport article. To be honest, reading it again maybe it actually says 'some' rather than 'a lot' but the quote from their supporters trust chairman sounds like he is more concerned about existing debt than shirt colour.

Although opposition to the rebrand among some Cardiff fans has cooled because of the scale of the proposed investment, others remain vehemently opposed to the change.

Cardiff Supporters' Trust chairman Tim Hartley said: "We welcome news about the proposed investment, stabilisation of the club's finances and especially the commitment to clearing our historic debts.

"However, there are still questions that need to be answered such as what happens to the proposed investment if there is no deal over historical debts with Langston and how much will actually be invested and over what period."

"Fire and Passion". Good god.

Leaving aside the whole morality of backstabbing the fans like this, could they not come up with a badge that doesnt look like Harry Potter fan fiction?

Unbelievable, especially a month after the chairman put this in writing to the fans:

"In the light of the vociferous opposition by a number of the fans to the proposals being considered ... we will not proceed with the proposed change of colour and logo and the team will continue to play in blue at home for the next season with the current badge."

What's most insulting is the board trying to sell this change as being about Welsh pride (whilst having 'Malaysia' emblazoned across the front).

Secondly, I fail to see how red shirts are somehow going to turn Cardiff into a football superpower. I suspect Man U's popularity in Asia has a lot more to do with all the trophies they've won than what colour shirts they play in. Nor has not playing in red stopped Real Madrid or Juventus being two of the best supported teams on the planet.

Some us go back a long way:

That's way out of order, Backbiter, no need at all to remind of that horrorshow - the kit, not Big Bill Garner!

I remember travelling to Coventry in 72/73 and witnessing the indignity of seeing Chelsea taking the field in red - I reckon I'm still pretty traumatised by the experience.

I am so happy that I wasn't even the glint in the milkman's eye (though in my case, the plumbers) at that time. I would have swum the other way.
