Transfer Ban

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Does anyone know anything about the "strongest possible appeal" the club was going to lodge against the transfer ban? I thought any appeal needed to be within 21 days of the decission? which would make us late.

What do you think of our chances of signing anyone in January seeing as other clubs would sniff the desperassion and make everything 5 x as expensive? Which areas need to be reinforced if we can't sign anyone for a year and a half after january?

sorry to the mods if this is in the wrong section or has already been discussed, feel free to move.

No doubt the club has just forgot :P

We did appeal - but as soon as we did, FIFA said that they'd received it, but it'll take 3 months to go through, so we won't hear anything until December.

I remember hearing at the time that if we delayed lodging our appeal papers until the very last minute, then the ban would only come into effect AFTER the January transfer window.

Maybe thats what we are doing.

I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not. If we do manage to get the ban reduced down to one transfer window, I would much rather us be banned in January than in the summer.

That was the general idea of it, being based off I think a Romanian side who did the same thing.

Any idea when the appeal date will be?

We have until Friday guys.

Article?

Chelsea will formally confirm their intention to appeal Fifa's decision to ban them from registering new players until 2011 by Friday's deadline, ahead of presenting their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, though it is not just the club's lawyers who have been working feverishly on issue of paperwork this week.

Obviously we will delay it till the last moment possible so that the appeal can take place as late as possible giving us the opportunity to do business in Jan .

Some good news on espn soccernet today, i have usually found this site to be pretty reliable

I hope with all my heart that this rumour is true, not only about the ban but ribery would be an absolute dream. Would turn our team (already the best in the league) to a very fearsome prospect

I hope not. News on some sites suggest he is now out for 2 months minimum and if treatment does not work then will require an operation after 2 months. Not this article which suggests only one month but some others.

I would much rather see us splash the cash for Kun, thought he looked promising is such a gash team last night.
