December 23, 200915 yr I'm sure Kalou would miss the plane, he misses everything else. Well played that. I'd imagine Carlo will be telling him to follow Didier around the park and throw himself between Didier and any filthy challenges. Not only would that mean Didier comes back injury free but we'd have the added bonus of having Kalou on the sidelines for a few weeks.

December 27, 200915 yr so was it a coincidence that kalou put in his best performance of the season yesterday so soon before he's off to the african nations? or does it show that he isn't really bothered that much about playing for chelsea but manages to raise his game to give himself a better chance of getting a place in the ivory coast starting lineup?

Dont think the ACON had anything to do with Kalou playing well (apart from missing that 1v1). But btw Kalou has to fight for a place in the ivory coast line -up? just shocking... how can anyone think that Kalou is good enough for Chelsea.
December 27, 200915 yr I think Kalou can still make a useful super-sub. His pace and effort can prove useful in the last 20 minutes or so against tiring legs. I think Sturridge's strength makes him a more effective starter. If Anelka's still out tomorrow, I wouldn't be against seeing Sturridge starting and then being taken off for Kalou at some point between the 65th and 75th minute.
