The World Cup kicks off in just a few days so I thought it might be fun to see if we can compile a Shed End playlist of music from all the 32 countries that are playing in South Africa. No official World Cup songs or national anthems, but popular music from the 32 countries. The songs don't have to be about football. And I know there are many Spotify lists available on various sites, but let's not copy something someone else has made and make it a Shed End list. I know some countries are not so well known for their music, so some help might be needed with those, but let's see what sort of list we can come up with. Just post as many songs as you want. If you know some hidden gems from these countries, please post them. I want to hear new music!

Here are the 32 nations:

Algeria

Argentina

Australia

Brazil

Cameroon

Chile

Denmark

England

France

Germany

Ghana

Greece

Honduras

Italy

Ivory Coast

Japan

Korea DPR

Korea Republic

Mexico

Netherlands

New Zealand

Nigeria

Paraguay

Portugal

Serbia

Slovakia

Slovenia

South Africa

Spain

Switzerland

United States

Uruguay

I'll kick things off with an older Brazilian song:

Os Mutantes - A Minha Meninha

I'll be back later to post more and see what you've come up with.

F*ck it, I give up, can't find how to post youtube links anymore.

it took me a while. i couldn't get any of the toolbars to work, so i had to type it in. it's a little different now - you need the entire url between the youtube tags. what's worse is the software only allows you one youtube link per post. press the Reply button for any of my posts in this thread and you'll see how they work.

here's another one.. never heard it before, just found it browsing youtube. give it a listen

Spain: Arte, Mujer y Flamenco

Music from Serbia:

Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Band - Pitbull

I know they used to be based in Sarajevo, but now they're based in Belgrade.

Some more from Serbia:

Goran Bregovic

He was born in Sarajevo, but has been living in Belgrade since the '90s, so I'm not sure if it's right to call it Serbian music or not. It's so difficult to say with these former Yugoslavian nations. The original was written by Bregovic and sung by Iggy Pop(for the movie Arizona Dream), but I thought I'd post this version instead.

BlueBeard - to post Youtube links is much easier now. You just copy and paste the whole code into this box, then press Post and the youtube appears as if by magic! I'm off to find a decent french song.

Well, in fact I'm starting with Belgium - this is Jacques Brel, singing both in French and Flemish

I'm not quite sure where to place this one because ManU Chao has his roots in Spain, was born in France, but sings in several different languages and uses influences from different styles of music from different countries. This one was on featured on the soundtrack of the movie Maradona by Kusturica and Maradona is in the video, so I thought I'd post it anyway:

Manu Chao - La Vida Tombola
