Posted July 17, 201014 yr Carlo insists Cole is stayingBlues boss keeping England international ace Carlo Ancelotti insists Ashley Cole will be at Chelsea next season while also playing down speculation linking the club with Fernando Torres. England international Cole has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer following Jose Mourinho's appointment as coach at the Santiago Bernabeu. Chelsea were in action for the first time this summer in a 1-0 pre-season win over Crystal Palace, but Cole remains on holiday after playing in the World Cup finals. Ancelotti insists he has not spoken with Cole as he does not need to as the ex-Arsenal man remains under contract and the Italian is 100 per cent confident he will still be a Chelsea player next season. "I didn't speak with him, I don't need to speak with him and he doesn't need to speak to me," said Ancelotti on speculation linking Cole with Real. "He is a player of Chelsea, did a fantastic season for us and will be an important player for us next season. One hundred per cent." Chelsea have also been linked with Liverpool's World Cup winner Torres this summer with the club reportedly mulling over a whopping £50million offer. However, Ancelotti has hinted he will not strengthen his forward line during the close season as they have the likes of Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge to complement Didier Drogba. He added: "I don't think we need other strikers - nothing has changed because in the next days come back Drogba, Anelka and Kalou and we have Sturridge." Don't imagine any of this will stop speculation from going on, but it's still nice to know what Carlo's thinking. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I haven't seen it and thought I'd share. July 17, 201014 yr Cole's great news and I even think not signing Torres is good news but it doesnt sound like we'll be making a big signing at all :(

July 18, 201014 yr Cole's great news and I even think not signing Torres is good news but it doesnt sound like we'll be making a big signing at all :( not an exact quotation, but this is more or less what Ray WIlkins said before the Palace game when asked whether there would be any more signings: Well yes we've just released a few players leaving the squad weaker so I would think that moves are being made to replace those players. .
July 18, 201014 yr Carlo has a habbit of saying one thing & doing the other. Good news about Cole. So by that logic wouldn't that mean that Cole is in fact leaving?
July 19, 201014 yr Ancelotti could have 11 hobos in his starting squad and he would still talk about how the squad is strong and he doesn't need any more players. I think it's his way of massaging the egos of the starting XI. It's not as if he would really say that he's desperate to get players in the door because the current squad just isn't good enough and that Cole already has one foot out the door. He's going to say the same thing regardless of what the true situation is. Then, we'll sign someone and he'll talk about what a useful addition they are and will completely forget about how he just said we didn't need anyone two weeks ago. Every indication I've heard is that players who go out the door this offseason will be more or less replaced by incoming players. So I still expect 2-3 first-team signings.
