Just been wondering why. Its pretty clear he is going to be off and there are continual rumours about a deal with Fluminense. But nothing seems to be happening.

Just a thought, could it be that the club is reluctant to let him go until we have signed someone else ? Just to be sure and not to make us short? Perhaps they are learning the lesson of Robinho and 2008.

Like i said, its just a thought. Its early morning and id thought id mention it whilst the kettle is boiling. Its a nice morning too.

Maybe because the Brazilian transfer window isn't open and he's still under contract so there has to be some negotiations with Chelsea

Didn't Belletti just agree to move to the same team?

Maybe we just want some cash from him instead of releasing him. It would make sense.

Belletti was a free agent and can move at anytime, a player under contract can only move when the window is open. The Brazilian window opens in August, expect Deco to leave then (finally).

Deco is in Brazil because he organised a charity football match for his cause Deco20. It was pretty big as well Rivelino, Careca, Sylvinho and Messi played. Now it's over i'm sure he'll be coming back to London to sort out his release.

Fluminense were already selling number 20 shirts and told fans to put Deco on the back :D.

Chelsea star Deco says he want to leave the club to return to his native Brazil.

Deco started his professional career with Brazilian giants Corinthians and the 32-year-old says he wants to win silverware in his homeland.

The midfielder left South American shores in 1997 to ply his trade at Portuguese side Benfica, before enjoying success at Porto under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.

The playmaker went on to Barcelona before joining Chelsea in 2008, however he has failed to make a strong impact in the English game.

Deco was born in Sao Paulo but opted to play for the Portugal national team after qualifying for citizenship in 2002.

And the former Iberian star said he would like to link up with Fluminense this summer.

Back home

He told Brazilian newspaper Lance: "It's been 13 years since I left Brazil for playing in Europe.

"Now I want to go back home and play in my country because I have never been able to win a title there.

"I want to return to Brazil most of all because of personal reasons but I am still in contract at Chelsea and I have to resolve that. Without I doubt I know that I owe it to my career to win a title in Brazil.

"I want to have the chance to win a Brazilian domestic league title and a Copa Libertadoresas I imagine that it must be a very strong sensation.

"I expect to have my situation resolved before July 26 for being able to travel to Brazil as soon as possible."

So it is only a matter of time. Hope we can get 1-2mill from the brazilians and not just terminate the contract.

I doubt Fluminense are mad enough to give 1-2 mil for him. 800k at the most I believe.

I suppose it will all depend on whether any other teams are after him, and even though he dint play brilliantly with us I would be very surprised if no-one else wanted to sign him.
