team spirit the key

Recommended Posts

take another look at yesterdays game and you'll see some very clear examples of what great team spirit we have

drogs making goals for others

the celebrations particularly after cech hit it long - he'lll claim an assisit!

winning the double has set the team up..................yes we have lost some big personalities (joey & ballack) but the backbone is there, and we have some real impact players in the bench

and of course we have the big four - petr, jt, lamps & drogs

I particularly enjoyed Ancelotti referring to Petr Cech as one of the "elder statesmen" [or a similar phrase with equivalent meaning] of the club. On the pitch they all seem to love being around each other more than I've ever seen since Abramovich came in.

And this a team supposedly at war with Roman over withdrawn bonus schemes. Rubbish paper rumour as usual.

Personally I want us to make sure we get enough points to avoid relegation then start concentrating on winning trophies (it's an old habit drilled into me by the bad old days - priority was always avoiding relegation).

We have a group of players who have been a long time at our club and have played together for several years.

I think the key is that Chelsea have kept Cech, Terry, Lampard and Drogba and always maintained the core of the team because of that.

They have been with us for a long time and I'm very happy the crazy days of spending like we saw when Roman arrived are over.

Essien have had some injuries these last seasons, but every time he gets back it's like 2 or 3 new signings.

Malouda started slow when he first joined us, but look at him now. He was outstanding last season and have started this season just the same.

Mikel showed us that he has learned to pass forwards now, Anelka has found a new role as a supporting striker and Kalou seems more consistant.

He still blows the ball into the stands, but some of his shots now find their way into the net.

I think the team spirit is the core of our success along with us having kept the key players and that these players know each other very well.

I wasn't present at DW stadium, but I heard new boy Yossi got his own song in the Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink tune. Just hope we don't offend him with all the y#d chants..
