GUUS HIDDINK: I WORK FOR CHELSEA

By John Richardson

GUUS Hiddink – the man wanted by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to replace Carlo Ancelotti – is already on the Stamford Bridge payroll.

The 64-year-old Dutchman has admitted that he has been advising the Chelsea board for the past two years ago after helping the club win the FA Cup in his brief spell as temporary manager. He has combined his Chelsea consultancy with his job as Turkey manager.

Confirmation of Hiddink not cutting his ties with the Chelsea hierarchy despite Ancelotti’s arrival in 2009 has come to light following an approach from PSV Eindhoven for his services as an advisor. Turning down the PSV offer, Hiddink revealed: “Since leaving Chelsea two years ago I’ve still been advising the club on things concerning the squad. It’s not been taking all my time. I have been able to combine that with my job as Turkey manager.†Now Abramovich wants the Dutchman to be more hands on as he prepares to ditch Ancelotti .

Abramovich knows he has to move swiftly because Hiddink is also wanted by Ajax as an executive director .

It’s believed Hiddink would prefer a director of football role at Stamford Bridge with a younger coach working under him with Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard in the frame .

No point getting rid of Carlo if your just going to get Van Basten or Rijkaard.

But Hiddink as Director of Football overseeing someone younger like Villas-Boas? If Carlo is to leave, I'd certainly consider that an adequate replacement.

So if he is still advising on squad etc, do es he get equal blame with Carlo for this season?

My thoughts entirely DKW!

to be honest , this isn't news. When he left us 2 years back it was fairly well publicised that Guus was going to be retained as an 'adviser'. I suggest this is just being rehashed to add some sheen to the Carlo sacking stories by a hack all frustrated he can't write about Ryan Giggs.

Who's this Ryan Giggs your referring to?

Welsh bloke, won player of the year after playing about 5 games a few seasons ago. Media darling.

I like Hiddink but what the hell is going on? An advisor since he left? So he has been on the payroll for the past two years! What decisions was he involved in? There are lots of questions to be answered!

Recent comments from Carlo suggest he is resigned to losing his job.

So get ready folks for another merry-go-round!

As bjd said, this is not news. Roman has several advisors on the payroll. This is how the club operates and has for some time. Get used to it.
