Cam
Actually, I'd say we really invest heavily in youngsters, but then don't trust them, or given them an opportunity to crack the first team. What we need is players to literally barge the door down so hard they can't be ignored.
The Moos
He didn't really say that we don't invest in our youngsters. His comments refered more to the fact that we seldom let them play for the first team. Instead of bringing someone like Piazon in we prefer to buy Hazard. torres9
Not sure where I stand on it. if they're good enough they do get a chance , e.g Bertrand - but if you can afford the complete article in Hazard or Hulk...
CacOBG
It's not like any of our youngsters has done any miracles while on loan bar Courtouis at Atletico and Sturridge at Bolton. From the actual academy products no one has impressed while on loan enough to be even close to first team of Chelsea. If Mitrovic thinks he is good enough put in a transfer request and go play elsewhere (Borini was a starter for Roma all season long doing relatively OK). The problem is that they don't. Some get a few minutes, but even if they show that they are good enough they're soon ushered out to be replaced with someone else. And the way our youngsters can become great players is for them to play more competetive football. There have also been a few players who have moved away from us to excell somewhere else. Not far from truth tho. Possibly going back to Malmö. They will probably sell a couple of attackers during the summer.
Spiller86
He is of course pretty close to the mark. Perhaps he wasn't good enough himself. But plenty of others who have been haven't been given a shot. One will be potentially leading the Italian front line at the Euro's this season.
KURT.5
^^ i rue the fact we didn't play Borini more, he is going to be up there with the best strikers in Europe in a few seasons.
fester
That's the biggest challenge for any LONG-TERM New manager, how to remain a team that challenges for trophies, but can develop some of our youth products to their full potential.

Hes the only one I`m disappointed about letting go, though he and his agent were after ridiculous wages for his new contract if I remember rightly, something around £40k a week. At the time I said it looked to me like an agent engineering a way out for him, sadly it looked like I was right.

Guest RFC_CFC
When FFP kicks in we will be looking on the acadamy prospects coming through and making a claim for some games I would have thought. I think they need to be loaned out to PL teams like Danny and that way they can prove they have what it takes.

And didn't Gokhan Tore leave partly because he wanted to live in Germany rather than England? We've only lost three kids who look anywhere near talented enough to play for us (those two and Stoch), and two of them were at least partly for reasons other than playing time. I'd like to see the club do a better job of getting time on the pitch for its promising players - actually, one of the arguments in favor of Guardiola for me is that he did that well at Barca - but most of the ones who've failed have never really looked good enough for the Chelsea first team. Guest RFC_CFC
The one player I expect to see in the next few years is Feruz, a great talent that I hope we manage correctly.
