I was at upton park for that 68 69 piece.....I saw chelsea take the Northbank and then have to go over to the southbank via the pitch..In the southbank where there was also a large mob of west ham there seemed to be a line with hardly any cops between the chelsea and the spam....I remember a black west ham fan (skinny of the time) who may have been the famous black spammer who writes books(no names mentioned) And a very brave chelsea man who may have been DH have a face off in the space between the two groups...As i remember it these two ended up fighting and unfortunately it seemed the black spammer won...As i recall it , near the end of the match chelsea dissipated...I do recall a song being bandied between the two factions...Chelsea sang wo o o the chelsea football wo o o the chelsea football to which west ham would sing back (which sounds embarassingly tame now) wo o o the chelsea netball etc etc etc Ther was prob a lot more went on that i didnt see or was aware of as i was just a boy

Thanks for that, mate, gonna have to buy that. I never thought I'd ever live to see the day when a West Ham fan admitted getting beaten in a ruck, especially to Chelsea

No worries mate, the only other time i've read about WHU getting done was in Carlton Leach's book where he said he took a right kicking on the shed terrace, a good mate of mine knows there big black author & he has admitted to my pal that Chelsea were one of their hardest firms they came across hence them always bringing big numbers to the bridge, also their doco Hooligan clearly shows CFC ambushing WHU at Mile End yet WHU have never admitted it, mugs.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that documentary, was that the one where West Ham were sh*tting themselves on the train, with Chelsea on the platform? And then when the train doors shut, a certain West Ham chap got gobby?

Yeah thats the one, WHU run down the stairs at MIle End & reckon it was plod who were chasing em, but you can clearly hear Chelsea singing "where's your famous ICF" once the doors shut CP is giving it "kiddie firm Chelsea" lol!

Right...I wanna see all you chaps outside fulham broadway station when west ham come to the BRIDGE....Just joking officer just joking

OK, I'll polish up my zimmer frame specially for the occasion

The bit about Chelsea's 'fickle' support and hangers on is inaccurate and yet more bullsh*t from West Ham. Chelsea's home attendances were far from 'shocking' in the mid 70's when we went down. They were actually pretty impressive for a second division side.....particularly in the promotion season on 76/77. Early 80's, yes, they were poo.....but not mid-late 70's. West Ham need to pipe down about Chelsea's gates. They only averaged 24,836 in 1966 (the year 'they' won the World Cup).
