  1. George Best being one of the best players I ever saw play. Used to hope he was drunk when we played mancs etc.
  2. At the time I remember thinking that Hurst was doing a great job on behalf of Wet Spam, Blanchflower for Spuds and Porterfield for Sunderland.
  3. I'm in there somewhere. :)
  4. I see this thread has turned to sh1te. As far as I can tell the supporters and the club expect the players etc. to give 100%. Some didnt. Unprofessional. Rightly some supporters are venting their anger. In time the anger will pass. Many wont forget. Chelsea have just sacked one of the best managers in the world.
  5. Well I have taken a little time for reflection rather than a knee jerk reaction to the dismissal of JM to post onto this site. The methods that JM uses to win games...trophies are pretty well known. It requires wholehearted commitment to the cause by him and all those involved. The press conference after the Leicester game said it all ... betrayal. What was going on the training pitch was not translating into the game pitch. I went to that game and I saw players bottling tackles, very poor passing and basically a lot of nothing all over the place but still I sang and implored for them to do their best. I am not surprised that JM continued to show so much belief in those who continued to perform poorly on game day. JM trusted them. Perhaps not believing that a professional would never not give his absolute best for the team. That was all about to change following the Leicester City game. Certain players were just not going to get a look in. Only then did the board react. Draw your own conclusion. When a decision makes no sense remember it's all about the money. Or am I shaping facts and was the loss to Leicester just the last straw? Perhaps JM should have dealt with the situation much much earlier. Perhaps the board were expecting him to use the youth. A mistake has been made imo. JM one of if not the best manager in the world has been sacked and he will be replaced by someone not quite as good. I like most Chelsea supporters was hoping for a long term project to really take place a la SAF at Manure. I wish Chelsea every continued success but I feel the same now as I did after the sacking of Ancelotti (won the double) in the Everton tunnel and the sacking of Di Matteo (won the Champions League) at 4am in the morning. Or going back even further McCreadie after taking us back up for daring to ask for a cheap car. There are ways to do things and ways not to. Chelsea shooting themselves in the foot is a tradition we really need to dump. Up the Blues Win or Lose!
  6. At 223 pages I think "Epic" is fair comment.
  7. I shall pay a visit one day as it is almost local.
  8. I used to go on cfcnet a lot. It was a real community and did a lot of good work particularly with trying to improve the atmosphere . Rarely go visit now. Too many idiots. I avoid match forums during the game too much knee jerk uninformed garbage.
  9. I remember having a chat with someone who went to Chelsea games but he actually supported another team " The fighting was better with Chelsea." Ex army.. pyscho squad.
  10. If you can meet with triumph and disaster And treat those two imposters just the same Great to Champions again. Great for the club, players and supporters.
  11. I only follow Chelsea if they are winning.
  12. I like them all. Through rose tinted glasses the old days weren't that bad.
  13. The type of kit worn by female athletes could be adopted by women footballers. That might attract the mackintosh brigade. As for the quality of the football. It's not that bad and one thing it has over the foreign premier league is they don't seem to do cheating (diving etc.).
  14. TBH any other team. I can cope quite easily with other london clubs losing particularly QPR.
  15. What I have found is that some overseas fans/supporters are mad. They spend kin fortunes to come and watch Chelsea overland and sea, home and away games. Must be mad or fanatical. As for losing at 3 pt lane. It was understandably a shock. My system is learning to cope with losing at 3pt lane every 5 seasons or so. I wonder how their lot take it without winning at SB for decades.
  16. Total Control. JM has taken the team to another level. This is the team with everything.
  17. Post 23 by Cobham. JFH and EG both brilliant. Costa and Hazard...That you tube clip is a good one. My age...well past my 20's. "The sh*t from Tottenham Hotspur went to rome to see the pope, The sh*t from Tottenham Hotspur went to rome to see the pope The sh*t from Tottenham Hotspur went to rome to see the pope and this is what he said "f**k Off"" This song came out of the visit by catholic Spurs players to rome to see the pope and he declined to see them. hahaha in my days the song above lead straight into "Whose that team we call the Chelsea...."
  18. I wasn't suggesting SFL was called a Chelsea reject but I can see it could have read like that. Ooops. Too great a legend and we owe him a lot for all he did. I was thinking of lesser players. I don't think greed is exclusive to modern football but it's got worse. E.g. Footballers were renowned for boozing and womanising. |I don't recall a convicted rapist ever being invited back to a club until recently. Or is that my memory playing up again.
  19. I agree that at amateur or semi-professional level it is a sport. At professional level it is all about the money. Winning and entertainment = money. Jimmy Hill asked for the wage ceiling for professional players to be lifted. All went tits up from there. All about the money. Before they were on a decent whack say 3 times average wage. Now stupid money for kicking a football about. Moving back to topic... Not giving players who left us extreme stick " Chelsea reject"... SFL left us and I take off my hat to that Chelsea legend. I take off my hat to the fans who sung his name after he scored against us. None of it would have happened if he hadn't left for money. So what I dislike about modern football is the almost complete lack of morals/principles when money is involved.
  20. If I was a Schalke player I would want this game over asap. The score could easily be a lot more than 0-3.
  21. Barnsley what a total dump of a place was and is.
  22. Great article by Pat Nevin on the official website. Too much of a gentleman for Bates. Fantastic manager. Would have won loads under him I reckon. Sad they got rid of him as quick as they did. I know he had a heart problem but I thought and have read it was just a matter of treatment. Vague memory of Hollins doing the dirty behind his back to get him out and get appointed.
  23. Prices, no standing and the Premier League which isn't English Football it's mostly foreigners playing football in England. Hence the diving, cheating, overreacting crap. You have to see games in the lower leagues to watch English football; where MEN play the game largely in a spirit of fair play and contact is part of the game.
  24. Met and had brief chat with Albert Ferrer at airport in Moscow. Both of us knackered and gutted.
  25. As I said earlier I agree that we may have to move particularly if we want to continue to compete against other top clubs. How that move, if any, is handled should be being discussed with the CPO NOW. If they get a yes vote that would also strengthen their hand with the council and poss british rail.
