Posted January 22, 200718 yr Who is right Kenyon ? http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hli ... +new+deals or the agent ? http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hli ... &channel=& Hope Kenyon has learnt his lesson from his woeful handling of the Gallas situation. Hopefully he doesn't keep stalling Frank for months and then try to get him on the cheap.
January 23, 200718 yr This might not be Kenyon's fault. To me, the possibility of Frank stalling on his contract for the remainder of the season and then a move to Barcelona is a very real possibility.

IMO I don't think either Lamps or JT will sign these new contracts until they are sure of the managerial situation for next season. So it would not surprise me if neither signed before the end of this season!
January 23, 200718 yr This brings up a very interesting point. If Jose has such backing from his players, to the point that they will stand up for him. Will those same players also walk if Jose goes. No matter how passionate about the team you play for you are, would you really hang around when you were playing for a team that had no backing from the upper levels? If Abramovich is trying to call the shots, and undermine his manager, what player would want to come to such a team? And what manager would want to manage such a team? Sven and overpaid has beens, that's who. So, if jose goes, would we see JT and Frank leave too? And if they all elave, who do we replace them with? More ballacks and shevas? I know that RA has stated that he wants to see players come through the youth system, and we all hope that this is the case. But what if we also fall for this "galactico" mentality for teh sake of the Chelsea brand? If that is what we are going for, it will be dangerous times for Chelsea in the near future and one that may take a while to reconcile.....liike madrid Scott
January 23, 200718 yr I think that there is a big chance that Frank will leave if Jose does, not so sure about JT. I agree that nothing is likely to be sorted before the end of the season. I definitely wouldn't be blaming Kenyon on this. I am sure he would want to tie this up asap.
January 23, 200718 yr theres two years left for f**ks sake! lamps isnt thinking about the contract yet, thats the WHOLE STORY! stupid press crap and people talking who shouldnt be.
January 23, 200718 yr theres two years left for F*** sake! lamps isnt thinking about the contract yet, thats the WHOLE STORY!stupid press crap and people talking who shouldnt be. can't agree with that. lampards agent said it. specifically to counterwhat kenyon had said. it might be part of the negotiating ploy but if i were in frank's shoes i would be considering all my options in light of what's going on at the moment.
January 23, 200718 yr no all thats been said is that there are SOME deals that are advanced, kenyon did NOT specify who, and that lamps' contract in particular was still with two years left and any renegotiation was not currently near closing. nowhere did kenyon directly specify that frank was about to sign a new deal. lamps' agent did however specify frank was happy to talk about a new deal - which in my eyes only is a GOOD thing.. so all in all, i see nothing BAD and simply a way for the media to highlight areas which dont directly relate to each other in order to fuel speculation and sales.
January 23, 200718 yr the quote from Kenyon was: "I think it is fair to say with John and Frank we are well down the line with new contracts that will keep them at the club for substantially longer and I think that would be a big boost for everyone." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 284127.stm
January 23, 200718 yr kenyon mentions Terry and Lamps by name. Then lamp's agent comes out and says "hold on a minute, we are nowhere near sorting out franks contract." Frank has been, albeit tenuosly, linked with moves away previously. Now, all I was asking was, could this be a sign that, unless the internal wranglings are sorted, would we see two of out most influential players walk? Scott
January 24, 200718 yr This brings up a very interesting point. If Jose has such backing from his players, to the point that they will stand up for him. Will those same players also walk if Jose goes. No matter how passionate about the team you play for you are, would you really hang around when you were playing for a team that had no backing from the upper levels? When Ranieri was sacked a bunch of players came out in support of him. When Vialli was sacked, players came out in support of him. And so on and so forth....... If Frank really wants to go to Barca he will go anyway. But to leave simply because Mourinho's going is silly and only something that will happen at a club like Porto, not Chelsea.
January 24, 200718 yr well, if it happened at Porto when Jose left, can't we also safely assume that some players would do the same at Chelsea? I just think that Jose has a special bond with his players that not amny other managers do have. Once Jose left Porto, he took Carvs and Ferreira, easily. Who says he doesn't do the same if he leaves Chelsea. He has formed an unbelievable bond with some of the players at SB, and even terry said he was considering only signing a new contract with us IF jose stays. I think that you maybe underestimate the power that Jose has with his players. If Chelsea let Jose go, and he takes players with him, then the club should be held responsible I don't think this is Jose holding the club to ransom in any way, but I do think they need to respect the bond and camraderie Jose has built within the dressing room. It all looked good whenever we were leading, now we fall slightly behind, and their is suddenly pressure on Jose??? So now what? For every manager that comes in, if they don't deliver immediate succes, they are shown the door? Scott
January 24, 200718 yr The difference was when Porto won the Champions League everyone at the club knew once Mourinho had left that it wasn't going to happen again.
January 24, 200718 yr This might not be Kenyon's fault. To me, the possibility of Frank stalling on his contract for the remainder of the season and then a move to Barcelona is a very real possibility. We remember Eidur, after scoring goal against Us, was inviting his new "friends" to congratulate him and share the joy with him. Really I don`t like it. I think he was looking like a sl*t. But I can`t imagine if it was Lampard, who has kissed Chelsea`s sign for hundres times. So I want to believe it will never happens.
