Have watched him on the old season review videos but as I am too young to have seen him play live, was just wondering what people's thoughts were on the late, great man. Yes, we is a Gooner legend and only played for us just over 30 times, but he was the club for four years (most of which in the reserves), the most amount of time he spent at one club apart from Arsenal of course. Share your thoughts if you remember watching 'Rocky' during his time at the Bridge.

He was a fine player, but his best years were behind him when he came to us. Remember him playing in a european game for us one night, but can't really recall much else to be honest.

I went to that game against Vitoria Zhizkov (spelling) I think.  From memory the goalie went walkabout and Rocky scored with a lob before the keeper could get back onto his line. It was down the end where the temporary Shed End seats were.  My mate had him and Ian Wright in his cab once, Wright was, as you'd expect, on very good terms with himself, while Rocky was an absolute gentleman.

Rocky was a decent player for us, though he tended to filter in and out of games. I think he shouldve played a bIt more actually, he spent a lot of time on the bench. There was a touch of class about him when he got the ball, but for some reason he seemed to lose a lot of confidence and form when he left Arsenal. RIP

yes, that was the game. The reason I remember him though is that a guy behind me slated him throughout the whole game, even when he was nowhere near the ball, he kept up a stream of abuse.

Wasn't that when there was a rule about foreign players, seem to remember Rix having to play one game ?

Rix did have to play one game, an away game I think and he actually done a damn fine job.

As for Roccy, I remember looking forward to his debut, I think it was against Norwich.  It was obvious that he was a classy player, much better than I expected actually but everything about him was walking pace.

I know Rix played in a Premier League game for us...against his old club Arsenal ironically. Was his only one in the league. Don't know whether he played in the CWC. You might be right, bg. He was registered to play for us for a few years anyway after joining as assistant manager.

Cheers.

No problem. I met him just after he was all over the news after apparently having sex with an under age girl. I was never lost for words like that before. What do you say to a fella that's in the media for that sort of charge

Rocky or Graham Rix?

Rocky was one of those players who seems to have been popular with the fans at every club he played for. A classy player and seemingly a real gent off the field. We didn't get to see a lot of him in a Chelsea shirt but he played a big part in our excellent start to the 94-95 season.

One of my mates who is an Arsenal fan had a husky dog that he named Rocky in honour of his favourite player at the time. Bizarrely his dog died on the same day as Rocky Rocastle.

Good to see a thread on Rocky here.
