they now call it winning a penalty when a player makes contact with keeper who has come of his line and made him self big.

Ref's are showing absolutely no common sense. They see the player knock it miles out of touch then smash the keeper... if you ask me it's a red card to the player for attacking the poor keeper.

A ref has to ask him self, did the keeper force the player to be pushing the ball out of play like that?

It's very simple referees need to ask them selves did the striker have the ball under control when contact was made. If the answer is no then it's not a penalty.

Completely agree, the way all the pundits criticized Guzan for suarez's dive a few weeks back when he'd done nothing wrong and had forced suarez wide was unbelievable.

Unfortunately though nothing will change, the refs are too easily swayed by the slightest bit of contact and don't have the bottle to stand out from the crowd and say contact doesn't equal foul.

Been playing on me for a while... but tonight really topped it of. it's not complicated, sterling missed the goal because of the pressure the keeper put on him, not because of any contact. It's driving me crazy and it is killing one of the best sights in football.. the striker against the on rushing keeper

As a defender I can relate. I can't throw well time tackles from behind in the area any more -  I play in a local amateur league so it's no issue because the results are not really that important, but man it's annoying when you get nothing but ball and the striker goes tumbling and a penalty is awarded. The defensive game seems to be more and more phased out and deemed as boring, but as a player, there's nothing more fun than making that pacy winger look like a fool with a well timed tackle.

I was a defender and so glad I don't play 11s anymore, tackling is all but outlawed and you literally cant touch an attacker in the box. What bugged me most about the suarez one was all the pundits blaming guzan for giving suarez the chance to cheat. Unbelievable.

Definitely looks like Sterling has gone in with the intention of drawing a foul rather than going for goal.
