Fixture madness!!

Featured Replies

It has yet to be announced when we will play our away game with W*st Ham.

Has anybody any idea when we can play this game!!??

I do hope its arranged to a mid-week fixture!!

And also,if either us or Scum utd get to the semi final........

It will clash with our home league game (April 14th) with them and that will again have to be moved........

.....Do you think it will be moved to last game of the season??

Glory I think if either us or Manure get to the FA semi's our fixture will be played on the Wednesday before the final PL weekend, which means that when we get to the FA Cup Final & The CL Final if Manure scrap it thro' we could play them 3 times in two week for 3 trophies!!!!!

Blimey that would be some week !

AND.. if Spuds get through the Uefa cup tonight, our game at home to them on April 7th will have to be re-arranged as they will have a quarter final to play the previous Thursday!

Realistically it is unlikely that both Chelsea and United would lose in the replays so I'd say there is a very high chance of the league game getting moved. Of course that could mean that it is all over by the time we play them or it could be like the Liverpool v. Arsenal game in 89.

The Spuds league game will most likely just get moved to the Sunday if they get through to the next round of UEFA as expected.

That's Easter Sunday - no games scheduled for that day and I don't think they'd make an exception for us.

let's face it we can now add the nightmare fixture list to injuries, hitting the woodwork every match, infighting in the club, utd's form and luck that has got in the way of us winning the title this season...it's incredible the amount of hurdles we have had to overcome...we could be facing a bunch of fixtures in the last week...saw a piece in the standard today that said the premeir league had told spurs the game on april 7 had to go ahead, but that spurs would appeal if they get drawn away in uefa cup the thursday before...what happens, they get sevilla away on thursday 5th meaning they are hardly likely to want to play chelsea at sb 36 hours later...utd are looking vulnerable with injuries etc and the fact we just won't go away, but the fixture backlog will work in their favour...it's so frustrating

I'm with you Brit. I don't think we needed much luck in the Premiership in the past two years but we certainly needed a bit this year. To be honest, every great club has ALWAYS needed a bit of luck to be succesful. With a bit of luck we might even have had a Champions League title already. So, for the rest of the season I will be praying for a slice of luck that will deliver us in order of importance a) the Champions League, and /or B) the Premiership. Hard call but the CL just edges it for me. The FA cup would be a good consolation prize - not much more I'm afraid.

PS With United's gloating I'm reallt unsure about my priorities.

Doesn't matter when they are played, it's still four wins icon_lol.gif

Decision over Tottenham game could exacerbate Chelsea fixture pile-up

Sevilla have been told they cannot switch the date of their Uefa Cup quarter-final first leg against Tottenham.

The club and Seville town council asked Uefa for permission to move the match because it clashed with a major religious festival in the city which over a million people are expected to attend. But Uefa today insisted that the game - at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium - must go ahead on April 5.

The decision is bad news for Chelsea, as Tottenham are now entitled to ask the FA to move back their league clash at Stamford Bridge - currently scheduled for April 7. Any postponement would exacerbate the champions' existing fixture congestion problems, and could leave them playing four games in the last nine days of the season.

"The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had asked Uefa about the possibility of playing the game on another date, as 5 April is Maundy Thursday, a day of religious significance," read a Uefa statement. "In its reply to the RFEF, Uefa said it recognised the importance of the day and acknowledged that many visitors would be travelling to Seville.

"However, it explained that as a pan-European confederation, it was confronted with similar circumstances from time to time, and could not agree to moving matches based on circumstances related to festivities or other kinds of local events. Uefa pointed out that it had also had to decline previous requests of this nature, and added that no different solution would be available because alternative dates were occupied."

And you just know that Spurs will make that request... the spiteful b*stards!!!
