Well I was toying with the idea of a 3 man midfield of Carrick holding and Gullit and Gerrard more advanced but then I wasn't sure that it was suit Ljunberg playing in such an advanced wing position on the right. 

 

Plus then I'd have to drop one of Shearer or Ageuro and to be honest I couldn't decided on one as they are both just phenomenal goalscorers. 

 

It could still change yet obviously but I thought 4-4-2 would better suit the balance of the squad than 4-3-3.
