I actually think our identity is a strong defence coupled with playing with a bit of panache. The latter normally provided by Hazard and Willian.

We lost that when Conte plated just two upfront, initially acceptable then monotonous. He seems to run out of ideas and remain fixed in his belief when everyone else can see it is not working and there are other options and players that just maybe can provide the missing spark.

 

 

 

Ever since 2004 our team has largely been based on very strong defence. We've flirted with a more attacking style under Carlo and then Robbie but largely our game has been based on a solid backline with some key clincial players to break down defences. 

We're struggling a little I think as other teams have caught up with our style, we're reliant on Hazard given Willian and Pedro's inconsistency and Morata's struggles. I was encouraged by the switch to 4-3-3 against Bournemouth, with Giroud we may even experiment with 4-4-2. Let's see where it goes. I think we'll still make the top four and may push United for second if we can move past these injuries.

Embarrassed? Barca rarely keep a coach longer than 3 years, you think their fans are embarrassed? Would you prefer we clung onto a washed up dinosaur for a decade too long like Arsenal have?

Tbf to the club, it’s been difficult to argue with a lot of sackings, AVB and Scolari were drowning as they were so far out of their depth, Jose turned toxic in his second spell, then add on the interim bosses like Guus and Grant and you’re left with very little to feel hard done by.
