Not sure why many are married to the idea Alonso will play a back 3. He only did it at Bayer because they actually had wingbacks and a bunch of #10s.

I imagine its more hope because our defenders are sh*te and we've had success as a club with a back 3.

A good manager should be able to play in different formations - lets hope Xabi can do that. The rigidity of some managers (as we all know) is nauseating.
