June 27, 20233 yr Do any of you listen to any Chelsea podcasts? I enjoy "Straight out of Cobham" and "London is Blue", and sometimes listen to "The Chels". Any others I should be giving a listen?

June 27, 20233 yr straight out of cobham is hideous. Simon johnson and liam twomey are 2 of the worst people in the chelsea football space
June 27, 20233 yr I find a lot of the Chelsea specific stuff is a bit naff. Podcast wise London is Blue is the best one, although I’ll only listen to the “specials” with journalists etc which are frequent enough. straight outta cobham has gotten steadily worse over the past couple of years and anything worth knowing ends up on the athletic football podcast in way more / better detail. I subscribe to Simon Phillips Substack thing which is about £2 a month which I find totally worth the money just for his daily blog which collates all the news from everywhere including twitter which means I don’t need to go and look at several different sources throughout the day to stay in the loop. talking twitter, avoid it as much as possible as it’s a cesspit. If I need to look on there I gravitate towards checking the blue dodger or absolute Chelsea feeds as they are heavy on just information without input. I hate when these accounts decide they need an edgy personality.
June 27, 20233 yr I’ve tried listening to two football podcasts. Luckily they both quickly abandoned the football stuff and just started putting out nonsense.

I listen to Football Cliches and Athletico Mince occasionally, the latter is barely football related really, and the former just pokes fun at Keys & Gray for the most part. I've tried a few Chelsea podcasts, but find they're either run by fans with no real insider knowledge, so it's more or less just pub chat with no real substance or insight. Or it's run by journalists who often don't support the club, and who are pretty clearly working off the media brief provided by the club, so they just parrot whatever message the club happen to be spinning that week. It's a shame really, definitely feels like there's a niche that could be filled by the right setup.

Too much of it and the smugness and smartypants nature of it becomes too much. Athletico Mince is a triumph of wonderful Bob Mortimer football-inspired lunacy. I don't know how he doesn't get sued.

Mince is one of my ‘football’ podcasts and Andy’s other pod TFTM is my other one. Both rightly abandoned it after realising it’s a game for children. I can imagine Chelsea podcasts are a bunch of know nothing self proclaimed ITKs constantly chatting made up bollocks.
