PeteAshton
I dont want to uelogise over them as i dont actually think they are that good, even though they do play lovely football, but my main thought on them is that i dont actually expect them to lose any game at the moment, and it is daunting. I remember feeling the same way when they went unbeaten that season and to me it is based far more on their obvious confidence and momentum than their collective or individual ability. I also think that the prem this year is going to come down to the top 4's results against each other as there are not enough sides this year who look able to steal points of the big 4 teams. Last season - and for a few befrore that - you could rely on bolton, boro and even occasionally spurs to cause upsets, but now they are sh*te it leaves only Portsmouth, everton and blackburn that are able to put up a fight against them. Teams like Wigan and Reading are now rolling over too easily also. two topics here i suppose, but has anyone here actually gone into a weekend in the last 2 months thinking Arsenal will lose? midlandblue
watched them last night against Reading and they were excellent, never moved out of second gear, in fact it looked like they were playing a testimonial. they will take some beating. PeteAshton
the annoying thing is that it is all on the back of confidence and had they had a tricky fixture list at the beginning of the season and lost 2 or 3, they would be in trouble as that confidence wouldnt be there and the press would have been on top of them, but because they got that early momentum, they are now really on fire. Yes, watched them too. They were in fact excelent. However, who were those 11 muppets wearing white n'blue striped shirts on the same pitch ? And most importantly, what were they doing there ? Match Arsenal player by player, get them under pressure (wich was tottaly inexistent yesterday) and let's see what happens. Reading (ok, I confess I know who they are) was pathetic. Chippy
Arsenal have played some blinding football this term and fully deserve to be where they are at the moment, ok they have had some mediocre opposition and got on a roll but I take nothing away from them and as I dont expect Chelsea to be top 2 this season I hope they win it, I dont want UTD to win Back to Back titles straight after our own. I know people dont like to praise other teams but credit where its due, Wenger has done wonders with the youngsters he brings through and the football is exciting to watch, time will tell if you can win Trophys and play exciting football
Mike O
You're not alone in being reminded of the Arsenal of 2003/04 when they won bloody everything. They do have the same confidence and have mastered the art of playing exciting footie that wins matches. I still can't stand Wenger and his idiotic wingeing / didn't see the incident / who Sir? me Sir? / so wise..but so petulant manner, but he's struggling to make my top 3 objects of hate at the moment. That honour goes to: 1. Liverpool FC - no explanation required 2. Fergusson - the worst loser in the history of sport 3. Joey Barton - everything that is scumful about professional fotballers Arsenal, in fact, used to have me spitting fire at their strategy of disallowing any British footballer into their starting XI but now it's gone on so long, I'm actually finding it funny. It must really hack off Barwick and those other useless tossers at the FA which is frankly ok by me. Let's hope Walcott get's off the team-sheet any time soon to really rub it in. BlueBeard
Arsenal, my thoughts......they're a bunch of w*nkers, always have been and always will be. And that's just the fans, don't get me started on the club/team
BLUENUT
Should be interesting playing them under 'our new style'. From what I've seen of Avi 'the entertainer' Grant's defensive qualities , we could be in for a shock that day! Especially without Terry, Cech or Carvalho! Barn
It will be an entertaining feast of football that will have the purists salivating for months. Didn't you know we now play free-flowing, free-scoring entertaining football that makes us untouchable. Oh when the two most entertaining teams in the world collide there's going to be one hell of a mess to clear up!
Nibs
You really do have to hand it to Wenger (he says through very gritted teeth). It was not so long ago we were all laughing at them on this forum as with the loss of some big name players, they looked like they were slipping out of the "Big Four" and were going to go down hill from there. What an about tun we've had in such a short space of time as now it's us who could possibly slip down a few places whilst their football appears to get better and better. What really strikes me is how just about every one of their current team are so comfortable on the ball. Even some of our better players at times do not look comfortable with the ball at their feet and often look hurried. They knock the ball about to each other as if it is second nature to them and at the moment them and Utd look a class apart. For Wenger to achieve that with no real "stars" in the team - you have to take your hat off to him. Not confident we will get a result against them this season - even with everyone available
