c3blu
Its been reported in the papers today that AG was'nt the man giving the half time Bo**ocking to the players at Fulham. Apparently after AG calmly said his piece Steve Clarke then laid into the players questioning their heart and desire. Telling them they were'nt playing like internationals and asking them whether they could honestly say they were doing their best. The team talk obviously had the desired affect with a much better second half performance. Well done Clarkey, potential to be a very good manager. Played under and worked with some top coaches,.......oh and Avram Grant
Barn
The only people that would know that are those in the dressing room. Not sure i believe any of them would come out and talk to the press about what was said. Not wishing to take anything away from Clarkey, but I think the press want to upset the good ship Chelsea in any way they can and this is just their latest attempt! Guest Brian M
To be honest, I'm surprised JT wasn't in there at half time throwing his crutches around!

BlueBeard
I remember saying in MatchChat that Clarkey had obviously thrown a wobbler at half-time - nice to be right for once

Of course no player comes out and says this directly. Both The Sun and The Times I think have different "sources" saying similar stuff. Obviously it came from the dressing room and it was leaked to a favoured journo on the promise that it would be labelled from a "source". The journo would either run with it or dismiss it depending upon how much column inches they have to fill that day and how much they trusted their source. I don't doubt it for a minute that it's true be it stirring up trouble or not. Since when I look at Grant I simply don't see a charismatic man motivator - yes okay people can be different behind the scenes but I don't even get that gut feeling that he is a jekyll and hyde character in that way either. He is dull and bland end of story, I hate to decry my boyfriend's personality like that but such is life. We won the game so this story is just filler for now. I'm sure lots of journo are having to work far harder now with Mourinho gone for headlines than ever before, Grant is no media magnet and so getting info out of the club must be more difficult so they will scrabble around for anything no matter how trivial and post it up as some big story. loz
If it was just in The Sun would you believe it Csllista? Once you have answered that then remind yourself that The Sun and The Times are just the same paper with a different target market. They are both published by News International and so their 'source' will not be different, it will be the same and thus one does not provide independent verifcation for the other. I look at the man and his body language and how he talks every time I've seen him, I read the article and yes I can buy into that story - gossip or not, shared source or not. They say looks can be deceiving well I don't feel deceived by Grant so far in that particular department. As long as we keep winning though this kind of stuff is not going to hurt the club or Grant personally, I doubt he cares one bit. Guess it was a slow newsday! Barn
For the record I'm not saying that Clarkey didn't give them a record, but I really get the feeling that people will believe the stories that they want to, while writing of those that say things they don't want to hear as just being the media stirring up trouble. geezer
If the story is true then I say it's a great piece of management. Are players really going to be scared of a panda throwing a wobbly as opposed to a Scot doing an impression of Fergie? Great delegation Avram! Guest Brian M
If it's true (which I'm guessing it probably is, but who really knows), shame on Grant for taking credit for. However, hats off to him for setting up a 'Good Cop, Bad Cop' routine that obviously got the desired result.
