Posted April 10, 200817 yr I hope to come back to this posting at the end of the season and say, yep , In 1981 Aston Villa won the league , Ron Saunders was their manager and was the fans favourite , he was a hero , could do no wrong , the future was looking bright until the Villa board sacked him, think it was a money issue . In steps Tony Barton for the 1882 season. Tony who ? Id never heard of him either . Fans disgruntled, he was boring, spoke like a 5 year old on helium and had never won anything , in fact , i dont think he ever managed before. What happened next ? Well they won the European cup , beat Bayern Munich in the final and Barton was the shining light amongst the fans for a brief period. So, Grant might just be our Tony Barton.
April 11, 200817 yr History repeats itself sometimes. I don't think it is the case with Grant.... To think of it I don't think Grant will be ever given a break. Even if he wins Prem or CL I don't think he will be the one the fans thank. "The team ran still on Jose's fumes" "Jose made this team" etc.. He would have to win Prem 5 times in a row not to get stick after a loss in a cup final. So why not sack him now or push him up to some nice desk job and hire a younger manager with full of energy.
