  1. I agree - we can't take anything for granted. A draw on Tuesday would really put things right back in play.
  2. Do people think that it's more nerve-wracking watching on TV than actually being at the ground, or is it the same either way?
  3. I came up with: GD Pts 1 Chelsea 60 85 2 Man Utd 55 83 3 Arsenal 45 82 However, it relies on City getting a draw out of the derby. It's nice to have the GD advanatge. (Thanks Villa!)
  4. Blackburn you beauties - a massive result!
  5. Well, I think the idea is that neither French side would be good enough to beat anyone else, so might as well make sure one gets in the last 4. Whereas if we drew United, that would knock out a favouruite. But who knows what really happens - you're right there is a good chance it was random.
  6. Well, Mr Platini must be walking around with a big smile on his face. France, Italy, Spain and Germany representing the final four. How nice for him. It was helpful that the two French teams got drawn together in the quarter finals.
  7. The surface seemed pretty useless yesterday - everyone slipping over.
  8. Just watched the game again. Maluda's back flick to set up the third goal was brilliant.
  9. Sorry about my spelling - should be Can't Bare to Watch, I think. Can the moderator change?
  10. So after Man U got a goal back last week, I couldn't even watch. I turned the TV off and went inot the garden. I just walked around a bit and imagined what was happening. I made a calculation of how much extra time there would be and was thinking about adding 4 or 5 minutes to that to be safe and then going back in. But, I couldn't live with that either - seemed like time had slowed down, but I went back and turned on one minute into extra time. And then I watched through to the end!!! I recorded it, so later on came the relaxed and happy watching of the win. Great time to pick up on things I'd missed. Anyway, the point is I'm 50 yeaars old and acting like a kid hiding behind the couch during a scary Dr. who episode. Does this happen to you, or do have nerve enough to always sit through the whole game?
  11. i thing Ferguson has a a bit of a blind spot that will keep him picking Scholes, Neville and Giggs. I think he has better choices, and that this will be thier downfall. Hope so, anyway.
  12. The "Bestbetting" website now has odds of: Chelsea 4/6 United 13/5 The Buttocks - 11/2
  13. I think United will drop 4 points by drawing twice. Therefore we could afford to drop 6 if our goal difference holds up, and still win the whole thing. So a draw at Anfield would probably not be a killer if it happens.
  14. For me, in ranked order, it's Evra, Nani, Scholes, Neville, then Fletcher.
  15. I would love to win the league based on goal difference versus Utd. Could happen - and would look back on today as the key.
  16. Couldn't hope for a better way to go up to Old Trafford.
  17. Olitheblue: That's a good point - throw in the CL and I think most people would put it top. In your example, I would always go for the CL win. In fact, thinking about it some more, my ratings today would be: CL=10 League = 8.5 FA Cup = 6 League Cup = 4
  18. I'm 50 years old now - but when I was in my teens, the FA Cup seemed much more important than today. Using a "points out of 10 score", back then I would have given the following: - In a season where a team won both the FA Cup and the League, that would of course be a 10. - Win the league, but not the cup, then compared to not winning both, that would still be a 9 or more. - Win the Cup, but not the League - that would be an 8. This year, if we win the Cup, but not the League then I would feel like we had a 6.5 season. I'm not sure how much of this is because my opinion of the cup has gone, down versus I've just got higher expectations of the team. Howver, I do know that as a youngster in the 70's, a cup win was a memory to enjoy for years.
  19. I think we ought to buy Lionel Messi - he seems quite promising for his age.
  20. I used to think that blaming bad decisions by a ref is a cop-out, that if we play well then we will win and that blaming bad reffing is a lame excuse. But I've changed my mind. Games between teams like Chelsea and Inter are often extremely tight and one bad decision, let alone two or three, can easily swing the outcome. In effect, a penalty not given is almost like a goal for the other side. If two decisions had gone our way, then I really think we would have won. I don't believe there is actual corruption of refs in the CL - as in cash being transferred (although there is a chance). Rather, I think it's more suble. For these refs, Platini is their boss. They know what their boss likes and doesn't. So when it comes to a decision that could go either way, they are much more likely to call it the way their boss would want it. It's probably subconscious. Finally, nothing pisses me off so much as wimpy, diving Italian players. Have they no respect as men? Get tackled - fall down, roll-over three times, and stay there for as long as possible. Either they're faking - so they are liers, or they are just genuine nancy boys. I would rather lose a game than be such a fairy. At least you know when JT or a Scott Parker, or even that bar steward Shrek go down it's real. So to any Inter fans reading, you should be ashamed of the babies in your team - and you know who they are.
  21. I don't think that the pitch is helping us - too many bumps and holes.
  22. I prefer Quizno's sandwiches to Subway's - in case that's relevant.
