Posted March 25, 201015 yr So not many games left now, we again need a win. Possibly the same sort of line up/formation as was against Pompey?
March 25, 201015 yr J.cole for sturridge! Looked alot more balanced when coley came on. Deco should keep his place ahead of ballack!
March 25, 201015 yr Could be quite interesting to see Villa's line up, they have doubts with players such as Milner, Dunne, Hesky and Gabby.
March 25, 201015 yr Really hard decision for Carlo, on the one hand he could start basically the same team as he did against Portsmouth..Sturridge didn't do enough for me to start against Villa,Joey looked better Should he start this one or would he again be better later against tired legs hopefully improving again, Anelka has been dire of late but a few games ago was superb and could be the best goal threat. My self I would play Anelka and hope being dropped has taught him something but could easily understand Joey getting the nod. Edited March 25, 201015 yr by Chippy
March 25, 201015 yr Martin O'Neill admits that the list of injuries at Aston Villa before the game against Chelsea is very large. Martin will have a major headache before the issuing of the composition of the match against Chelsea on Saturday. Gabriel Agbonlahor, one of the best shooters AV is excluded from the game due to groin injury. But this is not the end of Emile Heskey, James Milner and Richard Dunne will also be able to play in this match, due to injury. So as you can see big problems will have to draw up a coach worthy to overcome Chelsea. On Saturday will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa in the Premier League next queue. Perhaps it is that O'Neill will have to make some very significant changes in the composition of its team. Gabriel from day to day plays better and better, his workouts are good, but still do not know if I will be available for the match against Chelsea. - Martin O'Neill says. Emile went off the Achilles injury, James complained of pain but I wanted to see him in the warehouse. Now I know that I acted badly ordered him to play. - Ends, complaining O'Neill. from: www.chelseafc.com.pl
March 25, 201015 yr that list of injuries sounds quite promising. We really need 3points from this so that when we go to old trafford next week everything is on the line. Kind of weird how this time 2years ago i didnt understand why malouda was at the club and now he is one of the first names i would put down in a starting lineup
March 25, 201015 yr I think we should win as long as we don't make the type of mistakes we made against City. I don't mind the same team as Portsmouth, good thing Ballack is still out, we are down to walking pace when he's playing. We need to play at a higher tempo to beat an organised defence like Villa's. We will have a lot of possession and Villa will hit us on the counter with their pace. Villa usually struggle at this time of the season due to their limited squad, so we should be able to cash in.
March 25, 201015 yr Somehow I think our list of injuries outweighs theirs, but at least it balances it up a bit. No Milner and Gabby would be particularly good. If we play anything like the way we did at Villa Park earlier in the year we will lose comfortably, so lets just hope that the rebound effect from our kick in the arse last week continues. March 26, 201015 yr After watching the match on football first last night i couldnt believe the difference between this game and the blackburn one, it was hard watching the blackburn game , malouda was amazing last night and i didnt see much wrong with either of the so called red cards, maloudas you cnat jump without raising your arms and he had eyes for the ball, and sturridge when people run there arms go up for balance i think wrong place wrong time for pompeys players, 3 points is a must against villa at the weekend, or else the utd game might be like last year when we didnt turn up and utd destroyed us , come on you blues!!!!
March 26, 201015 yr Typical Villa fading fast again towards the end of the season. We need a good win and send a message for the semi final. 4-1 the boys are on fire at last!
March 26, 201015 yr Cech Ferreira - Alex - Terry - Zhirkov Ballack - Mikel - Lampard Anelka - Drogba - Malouda I reckon it'd be a return to the usual, maybe Joe Cole in there for Anelka? But to be honest I have a funny feeling Anelka is going to really do the business tomorrow. Edited March 26, 201015 yr by blizeH
March 26, 201014 yr Not interested in the supposed Villa injuries - whatever 11 they stick on the pitch we have to remember it's a Martin O'Neill team, and they have caused us problems down the years (remember Leicester?). As far as our 11 goes, the back 5 picks itself, Mikel and Lamps will take 2 of 3 midfield slots, Drogba up front with Malouda wide left, so just two positions to fill; Deco or Ballack in midfield, Cole, Sturridge, Anelka or Kalou wide right. Personally I'd go for Kalou deep with Cole ahead of him purely for their pace and invention. I'd never have had Deco at the club, don't see what anyone sees in him, not fit to lace Joey's boots. Ballack is shot, gone, o'er the hill and far away! Sturridge is only useful as an impact player, an extra striker if you need a goal, but not a starter. Anelka has suffered due to the role he's been asked to play - wide, deep, holding midfield, I don't know where he's being asked to play, but whatever it doesn't work. It'll be tough tomorrow and probably not very pretty but Lamps' confidence should have taken a boost, as well as Joey and a few others. Start strong, impose ourselves on the game, get the crowd behind us and push on to victory! 2-0, JT and Alex! Edited March 26, 201014 yr by Jack
March 26, 201014 yr hope the team are on form Cech Ferreira - Alex - Terry - Zhirkov Deco - Mikel - Lampard J.cole - Drogba - Malouda Malouda and Drogba 2-0 or 2-1 *Carew
March 26, 201014 yr A must win if we want to see the title at Stamford bridge. Im expecting the boys to give everything and a 3-0 win should not be a problem. Ferreira-Alex-JT-Zhirkov Deco----Mikel---Lampard J.Cole--Drogba---Malouda
March 26, 201014 yr With the exception of John Terry our defensive unit has really been hit with injuries so far this season - Carvalho, Ivanovic, Ashley and Bosingwa are out of action. Great that Cech has recovered. Ferreira, Alex, Terry and Zhirkov, constitute a relatively solid defence for the upcoming game against Villa, who will be without Milner, Heskey, Agbonlahor and Reo Coker. I predict a 2-1 victory for us with Drogs and Lamps on the score board. Onwards and Upwards, Chelsea!
March 26, 201014 yr We are going to face a very very difficult game. Hopefully we can grind it out, this will not be an easy win at all...unless of course, we truly have found form again.
March 26, 201014 yr I am kind of afraid to ask this question, but has the referee for this match been named yet? If it is Mike Dean, I will vomit my lunch.

March 26, 201014 yr Going to be a tough one, usually we fare worse against them away, physio room (for what its worth) has Milner and Heskey out, Gabby a doubt, Heskey always seems to bother us - especially when he was at wigan, but they still have Young and Downing and our current full backs are a bit dodgy at defending not to mention JT & Alex are a bit slow getting back. Also has Drogba as a doubt will CA chance him with OT the following week if that's the case ? Cech back is a big plus and if we can avoid more injuries or a 'silly' red for JT or Alex potentially having to bring down Downing or Young on the break (Villa's for sure game plan) we should be able to grind it out at the Bridge. Ballack is back from his achilles problem but please put him on the bench Carlo, along with Anelka (if Drogba plays). KTF, Cmon Chelsea !!
