  1. The clubs probably agreed to wait to officially announce it. Or, perhaps we are working on a deal to loan him back, similar to the Pulisic deal from 2019.
  2. Welcome Andrey
  3. Benfica working on a replacement.
  4. Todd and team must think they’ve figured something out there. From a financial standpoint it makes sense. Buy young promising players, who may be expensive, but amortize it out over 6-7 year contracts. FFP is probably not even an afterthought with that model. When you factor in that the contracts are also reportedly performance incentivized then I think that limits the downside for Chelsea if the player doesn’t pan out. If they don’t perform, their pay doesn’t increase and that makes them easier to offload later in the contract.
  5. Sounds like he may go on loan to start. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aubameyang is let go next summer.

It’s a small number of American fans who think that. Most think he stinks. Casual fans think he walks on water.
  7. This actually makes me think it’s not as serious as a torn ACL. A torn ACL is quite easy for medical professionals to determine, even right there on the pitch. The knee “catches”. Hopefully it’s just a bad strain, or one of the other ligaments that have a quicker recovery time.
  8. Aubameyang is a much better footballer than I recalled. Just watched a bunch of his Arsenal highlights. I realize that’s only the good stuff but some of his touches and hold up play will fit in quite nicely in our system. He’s at least as good as Havertz in that regard. Miles better than Lukaku. Just won’t offer the pressing that Kai does, which I think is fine for now.

Ok, so barely any - I count maybe 3. The point still stands.

Putting him against big defenders would be completely fine if he ever made a run. I’ve never seen him get behind anyone. Can anyone recall Pulisic getting on the end of a through ball in his time here? Would love to see him do that, use the pace you have and get into space.

I think that’s a stretch, Sterling was easily better on the day. Multiple runs, 2 excellent teasing balls into the box for Havertz and Mount, and he had some excellent hold up play. Pulisic had one good cross and that was it. My man can’t even dribble anymore. Not surprised a market didn’t develop for him. Maybe he can help in some cup ties, but I don’t see how he gets on the pitch regularly at all this season.
  12. I think that’s more due to the team selection.
  13. Gallagher looks completely out of his depth, unfortunately. Whole midfield is awful today. Pulisic his usual terrible self. Ok, must mean Pulisic and Gallagher to score in the second half!
  14. BREAKING: Boehly has called the game “football”
  15. I think Auba and Zakaria are about as low risk as it gets, though. Probably not the most ideal signings, but the fee for Auba was peanuts (and allowed Alonso to get gone) and Zakaria on loan is a stop gap, with a small fee and no obligation to buy. Much less panicky than throwing 10s of millions on a permanent signing, a la Drinkwater.
  16. Listed as #33 on the club website. Maybe the admin did a double doink on the keyboard…
  17. I really don’t understand the obsession with Gilmour and frankly, our youth in general. It’s rare that any youth make it in any team, almost all of them leave and not all of them become much of anything. If there’s not a future here, take the fee and get rid. Would love to see some percentages on the hit rate of our youth, I bet it’s quite small. Just because Mount and James have become first team regulars and done well, doesn’t mean every youth player should get the same chance.
  18. I reckon he will take 2 or 4 since they’re open
  19. Fair play - I did not take into account the injury misfortune that he partook those seasons under Lampard.
  20. Are we sure Rüdiger is as good as some think he is? He was terrific from the time Tuchel came in, but prior to that, his time in a Chelsea shirt was not what one would deem spectacular. I’m just saying, the question can be asked: were the 18 months with Tuchel a purple patch for him? Bare minimum, we’ve signed an equivalent in Koulibaly. I’m convinced that Fofana is a clear upgrade on Christensen, but considering I don’t rate Christensen as high as others I’ll concede that there is some debate there. I hope Fofana backs up my opinion!
