Well Tuchel / Maria clearly disagree with you because he's supposedly just been offered an 11m Euro p.a. contract, which works out to be ~200k a week. I think that's probably the fair market rate for him at the moment, I wouldn't pay more. Sure you might find better bargains, but with much higher levels of uncertainty. There's not much uncertainty left with Rudiger: we know what he can and cannot do in the Premier league.

Wait what? He is not a world class defender but in this market he is easily worth 150k a week. Who could you get that's better than him for less than 150k? Not even mentioning transfer fees. PSG will give him over 200k easily.

Havertz is being played out of position. He is much better in a central free role like a Mesut Ozil. The problem is with Lukaku here there isn't room for that role anymore. He is going to need to adapt.

Dave was a top-class defensive left-back from 2014 - 2016, but never offered much going forward, and is going to offer even less now. When he played left back he had 3 assists and 3 big chances created in each of the 14/15 and 15/16 seasons. In comparison someone like Andrew Robertson has 11 assists and created 15 chances last season, while not being too much worse defensively. The game has advanced in the last few years and we can't afford to have a black hole on offense at the full-back position. Using Dave as a left back today makes us too predictable on offense imo.

Basically agree word-for-word with this, and think a world-class CB should be the #1 priority with a left back #2 priority (I'd be ok with just two world class signings in these two areas). We are scoring plenty of goals and keeping possession against the best of them (Guardiola-City) so attack and midfield are fine, but we won't win anything sporting one the worst defensive records at Chelsea since the premier league era began. We are basically where Liverpool was before they got Van Dijk, Alisson and Robertson.

Really really need to shore up the defence. Centre back and Left back must be the #1 and #2 priorities. #3 would be a better keeper and #4 a better backup striker. A Winger would be well down the list at #5 tbh. 3,4 and 5 can wait until 2021. Would prefer just to spend 100m on a world class centre half. Someone who can become a Van Dijk or a Varane. Rudiger is injury prone and not world class even when fit - Tomori is still learning with a long way to go, and neither Zouma nor Christensen have the ceiling to cut it long term at this level.

He's not very good to be honest, a long way behind where Petr Cech, Iker Casillas etc. were at 25. Hopefully Given comes in and gives him some much needed improvement on basic goalkeeping skills like coming for crosses and shot stopping.
