We are so f**king blunt and wasteful.

I’ve seen a lot of bedwetting nonsense on social media today like most people. The worst of it seems to about us holding onto Giroud as though he’s a hostage and we’re going to chop his head off in the desert. A lot of this nonsense is no doubt from glory hunters who jumped on the band wagon during the last decade and this isn’t what they signed up for. It’s the kind embarrassing stuff we expect to see from Man Utd or Arsenal fans. I agree with some of the posters above in that Lampard should have at least portrayed more faith in the squad publicly even though he was privately unhappy. There’s now a lot of negativity around the club and it only puts more pressure on us to get results now. January windows are often quiet and so this one isn’t really atypical of what most January windows have been previously. The difference this time is simply the context of being post the transfer ban and the patchiness of the results and the squad has meant fans have been getting a bit desperate. I am however for the first time concerned about the long term strategy of the club under Abramovich. I am going to stay patient and see what the summer brings as that will tell us a lot more. It does feel like we are a cross roads between building a team that can challenge or one that’s happy to be around the top six and a period of ‘managed decline’. It has felt that way since that disastrous window of 2017 and Conte’s subsequent departure a season later. Added to stadium situation the signs haven’t been positive recently. Anyway, let’s beat Leicester tomorrow and forget about all this bollocks.

Does Sterling do much else besides run fast and score tap ins? Watch him score a worldie now.

Dries Mertens is a decent player. Not a long term option but this is a beggars choosers situation. We’ll be hit more than our rivals if we miss out on top 4 judging by some of the financial analysis that’s out there so it’s a gamble worth taking. I can see him playing behind Abraham and giving opposition defenders more problems than our current static approach.

It looks like Leeds are having their annual implosion. Shame as I’d like to play them next season.

Hull v Chelsea (FA) Sat 25th Jan 17:30 GMT
Unless Shrewsbury pull off a shock at Anfield, Liverpool it is. If it’s the side they put out in the Caraboa cup they have might have a shot though. I’d rather we get Liverpool as we have a decent chance at home especially if they make a few changes. At least it’s not a cup draw to put you to sleep. Surely there’ll be a decent atmosphere for that game.

And now you’re gonna believe us...we drew with Shrewsbury in the cup. Shows Liverpool are a Van Dijk injury from being bang average at the back. Next season they lose Mane and Salah for the African Nations Cup for 6 league games apparently so the race might be a little it more interesting. Doubt we’ll invest enough though to get in the mix.

So both Manchester clubs won easily. Magic of the cup eh. Seriously the FA cup needs to be merged with league cup and be moved to midweek. It’s a sh*t waste of a football weekend.

Possibly, but it’s all Arsenal have got to crow about unlike Liverpool. Plus I don’t pay attention to non-scouse glory hunters who are the ones likely to go on about it.

On the upside if Liverpool do go unbeaten we won’t have to hear from Arsenal fans who’ve been dining out on that for years.

That result certainly took the edge off the disappointment from last night. Now it's maybe Spurs we have to worry about. If by some miracle we can win the next three games that should be enough.

Gollum’s last stand tonight you would think unless they pull off a miracle comeback. I’m hoping he’s still manager come our game with United but it looks unlikely now.

Burnley better not be giving me hope only to collapse in the second half. Seen this scenario before only for United to make a come back even in their post Fergie sh*te days. Get in Pukki.

Chelsea v Arsenal (PL) Tue 21st Jan 20:15 GMT
I was at the game last night and it was weird one. A flat atmosphere for a week night derby game, but some of that was due to the flat play. We also gave that shower from North London an excuse to enjoy themselves. A point at Stamford Bridge against the worst Chelsea side in some time is the stuff of their dreams apparently. It shows how low the bar is set over there. Chelsea played better against 11 than against 10, creating next to nothing of note whereas Arsenal scored from both their chances. It was cross after cross, corner after corner. I think statistically, we are one of the worst for chance conversion (lots of half chances rather than clear cut ones seems the problem) and also one of the worst for conceding from chances for the opposition. We’re crying out for creativity, a leader at the back and probably a new gk and until that is sorted prepare for more results like this and the doom and gloom that follows. The game against United next month is massive now and not yet a must win but with Leicester away next it might be.

Really have no idea what to expect tonight. What Chelsea or what Arsenal turn up is hard to say. Both sides with obvious flaws. We should be confident though as they’re missing their best striker and their defence isn’t great. If Arteta is smart he’ll have them sit in and not go toe to toe with us but it’s not easy for Arsenal to play like Southampton even if that’s their level now. I’m going for 2-1 to the Blues.

For no rational reason whatsoever I think United might get something here. Queue 3-0 Liverpool.

Newcastle vs Chelsea (PL) Sat 18th Jan 17:30 GMT
We simply don’t have the technical ability to break defensive teams down and it keeps biting us on the arse. The next three games are season defining now to say the least.

Win this and the pressure is really on United, who I don't expect to pull off a miracle at Anfield but you never know with those lucky arseholes. Even though they're sh*te they manage to get a big win occasionally. Have to beat Newcastle with Arsenal, United and Spurs coming up. I think at least a draw tomorrow but defend properly from set pieces and we can win this one comfortably.
