A Pen. But soft as hell… Quick ricochet off the elbow. Ugh. Probably need to change tactics now. Don’t think we are keeping out a 2nd with our current play.

Burnley v Chelsea (PL) Sat 5th Mar 2022 15:00 GMT
Yes, when we were rolling, we had elite wing-backs playing their best football. It is quite apparent that for Tuchel’s current system to work optimally, we need those guys firing. It’s no coincidence we lost ground when Chilly went down. Everything had a flow with them in the lineup. It’s a pity we didn’t get Hakimi. One of the most important upcoming transfers is getting 3 deep at wing-back if we continue this system.

Alonso is getting torn apart.

Chelsea v Lille (CL R16 1st Leg) Tues 22nd Feb 2022 20:00 GMT
Looking crisp -- like the front 3 movement and passing. Puli should really only play left wing or nothing at all. Useless everywhere else.

Ya, Puli is not a wing-back. 🤣 Juked out of his boots.

Ugh -- definitely tough volley, but felt Ziyech could have done better with that.

Solid game by Saul. It would be a significant lift to get even average competence from him the rest of the way.

Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner! Hell of a link up between those 3. YES!

It is really one of the most curious loan/transfers I can remember where a relatively competent player for a big La Liga team turned into absolute trash (like legit, shouldn't be even starting for a third tier team in England). So weird

Heck of a save by Kepa

Excellent build-up! Werner was brilliant at pace there.

Timo Werner
I have been contemplating this a lot too -- I'd be interested in Tuchel telling those 3, ok, I am rotating you throughout the next few games in the same position (left forward or winger behind the 9). In particular, Werner or CHO would start and press hard for the first 60 - 65' knowing that they are going to be subbed at that mark -- run the other guys ragged. Then Puli runs at tired legs for the last 30' with his best skill-set, direct to goal with fast dribbling. I think those roles could bring out the best in all 3 guys.

Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!
That is interesting -- I always thought of Rom as a target forward that bull-dozed in small spaces centrally -- rather than needing space in the wing or on counter-attack. But, I guess that makes sense that he may not be a system fit -- which damn, that's more difficult to fix.

Christian Pulisic - Official
Honestly, I think super-sub is his best role for Chelsea. He hasn't been good enough in his starts, but I do think bringing him on consistently with enough time in the match (at around minute 60' to 65') to run at tired legs is a real weapon. His game (and goal at Leicester) is the role that I think would benefit Chelsea the most. Timo or CHO should start. Tell those guys they got 60 minutes to press and run them ragged, and Puli can run at them direct with his quick dribbling for the last 30'. I wouldn't want to be the full-back who has to deal with Timo and then Puli at full-speed for the entire game.

I know this is probably a lot of subs at half-time. But: Saul, Alonso and Puli should get hooked. And, get on Jorgi, CHO and Werner (game is begging for his pace).

Wasted opportunity. But, I dunno that being all on Pulisic. Rewinded it and that was a weird angle to take by Havertz. They need to read that better. S***-

Mason! Thank god for that, but, man, I feel the only we are scoring again is if we bypass the midfield like we did there. Guess that might work.

Wouldn't wait to half time, Tuchel -- get some subs in the midfield. It all starts there. Quickly.

I have to say -- whichever scout recommended Saul should be fired. Really single-handily f****** up this game.
