    Hi Everyone

i just joined the forum, looks like a good place to discuss all things Chelsea!

Been a Chelsea fan since I was a kid, and in our house it was the only choice, so you could say I was raised well!
I used to go to loads of games in the late nineties and through to 2005 when I moved away down to the Isle of Wight. My favourite memories of games that I went to are (in no particular order):
Normal service is resumed - beating Spurs away 4 nil after they done us for first time in years a few weeks before. Was right behind the goal singing that song as the goals went in. Also a game just before that when Bjarne Goldbaek got a 30 yard equaliser with a few mins left.
oh Denis wise - away in the san Siro. I seem to remember the Italians burning a moped in the stands at the end but I might have dreamt that.
bridge too far for the gooners - knocking them out of champions league at Highbury in the quarter final after they had gone 1 nil up. I could see that Wayne bridge shot going in a few seconds before it did. Punched a concrete stanchion in excitement and bust my hand up.
5 nil at home vs the manks. Poyet scores after 23 seconds and the rest of the afternoon was beautiful. Also wisey pinching Nicky butt leg and getting him sent off.
besiktas away in champs league , in Germany. I had tickets in the Turkish end but pleaded with the German police to let me in with the Chels. Thank god they did , otherwise we would have been killed! Won 2 nil and had loads of yoghurt pots thrown at us, at least I think that’s what they were.
beating the scousers in millennium stadium final with Jose winding them all up.
beating Norwich 4 nil at home and gianfranco did a backheel volley into the net in front of us.
Barcelona at home in champs league. Damien duff, Ronaldinho, say no more…..

great memories, many more to come hopefully……

In my opinion a good article by Jonathan Wilson in the Guardian today, which sums up the situation for today’s game quite well I think.
Patched-together Chelsea at odds with Potter’s wizard eye for a bargain
Basically, given the strengths of Arsenal in specific areas seem to match with areas that we are weakest in at the moment due to injuries ( Reece James vs Martinelli would have been good) it will be a tough game for us. Every option for formation seems a little bit awkward and there is no obvious solution. Thinking back to second half of Mankers game it was a similar challenge countered by us with a back 4 and a defensive diamond in midfield . I think that gives us best chance today too.
On our day we have the quality to hurt them. Come on Chelsea!!!

So. I can add that to my list of memorable games. Walked around Brighton for 2 hours with a bit of paper saying i needed a ticket also a good sing song in the wetherspoons. No luck. Went up to the stadium, lucky to get a ticket but in middle of all Brighton fans. They were pretty friendly and could tell i was chelsea because i was totally motionless when they all go berserk. Oh well a strange experience and one i wont forget for a while. Love the Chelsea, although they let you down sometimes....

The PL standard is so good that you can never bank on any result really, even against teams in the lower reaches. I think it comes down to confidence, form, adaptability and then having a squad with decent depth. Then you also need luck with injuries. In some ways i think playing every few days at a high level probably helps build and keep that sharpeness, gives lots of opportunities through the whole squad as well. Somehow Potter seems a lot more flexible than Tommy T was so actually i think that helps. Hope so anyway for Chelsea sake!
