  1. I too was shocked at the reaction and language used against joecollins, after all he did make a valid point. I was watching the game with a number of Chelsea supporters and a few of them mentioned at the time, that a few players had spoiled the moment . I guess what might be seen as unacceptable behaviour to some, is seen by others as totally acceptable and normal. What ever way you see it, there really was no need to be so uncivilised to a fellow Chelsea supporter.
  2. I was at the game when Paul Canoville made his debut, it was April 82, not 100% sure but he may have come on as a sub. I do remember he received terrible abuse and there was a large Chelsea NF flag hanging from the floodlight pylon. I'm surprised he stuck around after that, but credit to him he did and went on to become a bit of a hero after his performance at Sheff. Wed when we was 3 down at half time in the league cup.
  3. It could have been good, it had all the ingredients with a great story to tell, but I thought it went over the top. The scene with millwall on the tube station being a prime example., I like a bit more realism, but as you say each to his own.
  4. Rise of the foot soldier, avoid.............................OTT Was billed as Goodfellas comes to Essex........................really???
  5. Some fella ( slightly over weight) ran on the pitch that night and tried to lay one on him. He wasn't the quickest to be fair, and Clive was jogging backwards to avoid him. Was the 2nd leg when Dale Jasper gave away a penalty?
  6. I managed to make it onto the cover of Ken Bates book "my year" during the on pitch celebrations after the Leeds game (along with 10,000 others) And at Grimsby we got into their seats after a gate got kicked open, as far as I remember this was a pay on the day game and the numbers of Chelsea turning out meant a crush in the away end. Loads of Chelsea on the pitch and having to be put in the Grimsby sections. Then Dixon doing the business.
  7. That was special, if I recall he left about six of the geordies on their backsides. Happy days at Chelsea during the John Neal era.
  8. The pace of robben, the craft of gullit, the hustle and bussle from speedie and Ossie's finishing done it for me. And Townsend had a fantastic engine.
  9. John McNaught Only played about 10 games for us, came from Scotland and looked like a mad Viking! Charged around like a maniac and could have done someone a nasty injury....................if only he could catch them!

  12. I remember feeling glad to get out of there alive that night, I was 17 and it was the first time I'd seen a knife being pulled out at a game, on a mate who was walking about 20 metres in front of us. Some of the police had been bought down from the miners strike to deal with the expected trouble, this didn't help us after the game as everyone was directed away from the old Kent road and we got lost. Millwall were attacking off the side streets, I remember a van reversing up and the doors flying open and 8 or so millwall jumping out with baseball bats, they didn't hang around for long though as they were well out numbered.

  14. Hi

bluboy posted a topic in Newbies - Say Hello Here!
Hello everyone, I've not been down the Bridge for a while and have a couple of questions. First of all a little bit about me - my first game was way back in the 1979 when I was 12 and although we weren't that good I was hooked and luckily my Dad (Arsenal fan) would take me now and again. Once I got my first job at 15 I started going regulary and also managed a few away games. My favorite times were under John Neal 83/84 when we took the old Division 2 by storm, then up to Division 1 and traveling to all the big away games. I became a season ticket holder in the 90's but gave it up and slowly stopped going. I think the game that done it for me was losing 1-0 at home to Charlton, we had all these big names on silly wages and there was no effort or commitment, plus other things going on in life that needed my time and money. Since those days I have been to the odd game here and there, and of course had to be there when we were crowned premier league champions. Anyways, I joined my 7 year old as a member this year as she loves watching Chelsea on tv with me. I managed to get us a couple of tickets for Spurs at home on Saturday in the west stand lower tier. My questions are, what food is available in the ground and is it any good, and can you bring a camera into the ground? Thanks
