I don't think Macienne was in Ancelotti's plans for this season in the first place, so would be very surprised if we bought another centre back.

If Spurs go through, they'll embarrass themselves by finishing bottom of their group and the extra games will most probably have a negative impact on their league form. If they go out, we get more money (apparently) and they are humiliated. Its a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned.

Alexis Sanchez would be worth a punt (although I admit not having seen him play before the world cup). I think buying a quality right winger would most benifit our first team, rather than a centre forward who would just be shoved on the wing at some point and ruined anyway. Ozil would be a good buy to play in an attacking midfield role and given freedom to roam, but I can't imagine him being nearly as effective as he was during the World Cup against good league opposition and in Europe, where he won't be afforded so much space.

Apparently Drogba and Cech will now both be fit for the community shield.

If we sell Carvalho and buy David Luiz along with Ramires as some reports are suggesting, I think are starting 11 will be: Cech Bosingwa Luiz Terry Cole Ramires Essien Lampard Anelka Drogba Malouda Ivan will be pushing Bosingwa for his starting place as there is barely anything between the two anyway, and if Kalou is in form he could take Anelka's place.

We should at least make the quarter finals. Past there, every team needs a bit of luck or a favourable draw to go on and win it.
