I really don't understand what I'm supposed to be positive about with Maresca tbh. Boring football, can't beat teams near the bottom of the table and doesn't know how to effectively rotate a squad. We've had a few bright moments but overall it hasn't been an enjoyable 18 months.

Difference is Pep has adapted his tactics recently. How City play now is considerably different to what it was 4/5 years ago, Maresca is still stuck in the mindset of having 1 tactic and if that doesn't work then bad luck.

I've heard so many fans and pundits siding with Maresca and wanting him to stay on, saying he's done a great job etc. Am I just a miserable bastard and choosing to see the bad rather than the good?

Couldn't put together a worst list if they tried Imo when Maresca finally does get the boot we should be going for a proven top coach, but it's more likely to be either Iraola or Glasner, especially given their contract situations.

Be interesting to see how he tries to dig himself out of it, but I'd personally respect him more if he just doubled down.

I honestly think this notion that Maresca is forced to rotate the squad by the board is rubbish and tbh is giving him an excuse for his poor management.

A sentence I never thought I'd say, Troy Deeney makes a great point.

Even if he doesn't get sacked today surely the board have to start having a word with him. Even if they are in it for financial gain every game that passes by their investments are being devalued and we're getting closer to losing out on big revenue streams for next season. We're the same points behind Arsenal in 1st than we are ahead of Fulham in 15th and we're now in a situation where it's likely we aren't going to automatically qualify for the next round of the champions league.

Joe Cole really annoyed me after the game, the way he refuses to call out management and brings out the old 'we need experience' trope is tiring. We shouldn't need 2/3 28 year olds bringing in to beat Atalanta, Leeds or Bournemouth. For the gaps there are in the squad it's more than good enough to have gotten 9, or even 7, points from those 3 games. Maresca is 100% responsible for tonight's loss.
