Arsenal v Chelsea 84
I can't agree with the above statement it is far easier to get from Fulham Broadway to Upton Partk straight run on the District line as we did when we mobbed up in the swan and Kings head in the 1980-81 season (14/02/81 lost 0-4) we had a whole tube train going we got on at FB went to Earls court picked up some more fans and went non-stop (via police orderes) to Upton Park. I met the mob at Kilburn in the 3-5 match no way did we have 5-6K more 2-3K. In 1977-78 season we where allocated the whole south bank entrance via ticket only but as we only sold 4 to 5 K they allowed payment on the day that resulted in more West Ham being in there than Chelsea, Agreed West Ham where the bogey team-mob wise-but they where for all London clubs. 1970-71 we had a large mob but did have a no show after 1971-72 to 1977-78 (won 1-0 Gary Johnson goal)

Arsenal v Chelsea 84
If we had 20,000+ at Arsenal surely we would have had 10,000 at West Ham that would have shook them. Would have been nice to have seen though

Arsenal v Chelsea 84
I was 24 that day and sat in the seats behind the Kerry Dixon picture which was the West Stand. Whenever I look back at that day I wish we had played West Ham that day and taken massive of fans. Yes it was 11.30 kick off that day to stop peoplegetting tanked up before the game, however all of us from the East End went to the fruit market in Spitalfields which had a pub there called the Gunn that opened between 06.00-09.30

Vintage Blues pictures and film
Yes remember that match well went to both legs. I was only 12 at the time and stood at the front of the Paxton Road, I went home at 2-1 to them as my dad and uncle made us kids go home when it was 1-1 thinking, we where through saw Martin Peters penalty to make it 2-1 my dad said we have lost our place now lets go home and watch it on telly (ITV midweek sport special) at White Hart Lane station whilst waiting for a train a spurs fan came on the platform saying Chelsea had scored. I remember Martin Chivers scoring just before HT to put them 1-0 and the whistle went and the Park Lane where doing a 'Knees up mother Brown' and it looked good from the Paxton. Oh yes the ticket was 30p

Away days that didn't quite go to plan
I had a similar time in 1974-75 season the special came into New Street and we where met by plod who walked us to the ground outside the kop the Brummies where baying us to come in which we did as the police did not stop us going in (in those days there where no official away ends, you could go in any part of the ground) being only 14 at the time I let the older ones go in first, by the time I got in the chelsea mob where down the front and had a torrid time just before half time most run accross the pitch to the end behind the goal, I along with the rest where stopped by the police. I thought at the time they had a good mob. Later that season we had them at home in the cup (lost 0-1) they had a mob in the North stand but they got battered, week later in the league (won 2-1) they did not show. on a different note does any one remember the song that the shed used to sing in the early 70's to the tune of Lee Marvin's wondering star? it went ....I was born under the Chelsea shed, boots are made for kicking, guns are made to shoot if you come into the chelsea shed.................here is my problem what was the next bit? I am sure it was .......you will get a bit of the boot. Let me know please

Terrace Taunts
sang to Malcolm Macdonald When Arsenal came to chelsea " old Macdonald had a farm ei ei o and on that farm he had a w**k ei ei o with a w**k w**k here w**k there here there" etc Again against Arsenal 1973-74 as they warmed up at the shed end " Alan, Alan, Alan Ball, Alan Ball, Alan Ball, Alan, Alan, Alan Ball, Alan, Alan Ball, oh w**k w**k w**k w**k w**k w**k" he responds with a two finger salute. Same season against QPR after the papers printed that Stanley Bowles wife had run off with the milk man..." where's your wife gone where's your wife gone where's your wife gone Stanley Bowles ?" he gives a Harvey Smith response and then come a chorus of Ernie the fastest milkman in the west. Against Tottenham at home 1972-73 Martin Chivers misses a clear header at the Shed end ..."His nose got in the way, nis nose got in the way",, To the West Ham fans in the white wall section of the shed 1973-74... "You can stick your f**king Hammers up your Arse, You can stick your f**king Hammers up your Arse, You can stick your f**king Hammers, You can stick your f**king Hammers, You can stick your f**king Hammers SIDEWAYS".... Same match "North Bank have a w**k"

Boro rivalry
Just read their site, typical of most clubs cannot take the truth, excuse after excuse eg most of the Boro boys where in the pub at 2.20 when Chelsea took our end! One thing is they have never shown their faces at Chelsea one even talks about the 74-75 season when a few where in the East End

Boro rivalry
The match when the Holgate End was taken was the 2-7 match 1978-79 we where in the corner opposite which was terrace next to the seats and my mate Paul Feeney was talking to a Boro girl who said to him that no one has ever taken the Holgate End and at that moment Hicky and his mob cleared the end and Chelsea was written on the wall at the back of the end, PF said to her it has now!

Chelsea Ball Boys late 60s
Yes there was 1975-76 the ball went pass the post the ball boy held on to the ball until the chelsea players where ready for the goal kick to be taken, Fulham goalkeeper Ian Mellor grabbed the ball out of his hands and claimed he was waiting for a signal from Bill Garner, alas the game ended 0-0

Whats the lowest Chelsea following you've seen?
The Norwich match was either the pre-season friendly 0-0 or the Norfolk challenge cup we lost 0-2 ( I think Norwich only chose us because it was the worse season in our history! The Middlesborough match was 2-7 Bumstead got the other one I went to that to.

Hickeys Coach

Applauding an opponent
The last game of 1972-73 season v Manchester United at home won 1-0 Osgood scored the Shed sang Bobby Charlton's name when he got the cigerette case from Brian Mears just before the game started, it was his last match and was supposed to retire but in the summer became Prestons player manager
-
Applauding an opponent
I think you will find it was 1976/77 season during one of the pitch invasions at home V Hull 4-0 I think it was the invasion when the players came out Hull players where already on the pitch someone gave the Hull goalkeeper a womans handbag

chelsea vs qpr 1974 fa cup
Yes went to the first match at the Bridge we drew 0-0 John Phillips saved a penalty which I missed as I was tying my shoe lace and my cousin said "He saved it" so had to wait until the Big match on sunday to see it, remember we where lucky to draw that day. Went to the replay and went in the Loft as soon as the doors opened the referee was inspecting the pitch there was only a few hundred fans in but the Loft was already Chelsea, they game was called off and those of us who had paid to get where given a pink sort of raffle ticket to use when the game was played. On the way out the Chelsea fans turned over the refreshment kiosk and ran down the sheet trowing things at cars etc. when the game was played we lost 1-0 Stan Bowles scored but Webb playing centre forward hit the bar right at the end, Chelsea had the whole of the Loft and the school end and one fan ran out of the loft and tried to attack Don Givens remember that, the pitch was a mud bath
