  1. I went to Morpeth School but John Sparrow was older than me, in my last year he came to award sports prizes and I was captain of the winning team so got to meet him.
  2. I went to this game remember it well, we went to a burger bar had a meal by the time we finished the place was packed to the 8 of us decided to walk out (although I had nothing) and the Turk bloke was calling us back. We went in the Oak Road the Luton end and we saw the Turk owner walk around the pitch at the open end looking for Us I suppose. The police where also looking for Chelsea fans in the oak road and when they looked up at us we started reading the programme. Anyway the Luton belle of the match came onto the pitch before the game came to the Oak Rd waved a scarf and the end sings out "you dirty Luton scrubber" then all hell brakes lose with Luton fans climbing out the end into the 2 outside sections as the Oak Road was divided into 3 sections, we where all in the middle section. Next day at work a West Ham fan says saw your mob in the Oak Rd when they scored. The game ended 3-3 Luton had a clear goal dissallowed for offside we had a clear penalty turned down. In 1975-56 season we all ran from the open end to the Oak Road and the Police took us back around the pitch.
  3. Peter Houseman testimonial match V Fulham 1973-74 at half time was a long throw competition which Clyde Best throw one with one arm to try and win!
  4. My first away game outside London was Leicester away lost 0-3 1973-74 when I came home to Bethnal Green station I saw John Sparrow limping down the street with his mum and Dad he lived around here then
  5. Still have mine in my Programme collection, I remember when the club where going to intrduce ID cards for the terraces which where 50p I had one but they where never bought into use as the fear of floating fans would not get in losing the club revenue. When the official supporters club was formed you could hand in your ID card to get a seasons free membership, whic I did. Regret it now
  6. I wrote up to Manchester City to get tickets and they sent me tickets for the Main Stand, went up with Stephen Owen and Terry Last from the East End went by the original Supporters club who had a their usual cheap train tickets which was normally one carriage on a regular BR train. When we came out the station we where met by a Man.City mob near a place called Great Lever Street but with us from the train was a bloke called 'beefy' which made the 20 or so City fans back off and allowed us mingle in the shopping crowd and we all went into a shop where we lost the City fans not one punch thrown! Oh the match 2-6 with the best own goal by Graham Wilkins I have ever seen live. On the way home met a couple of girls who showed us back to Piccadilly station one moved to London and we ended up getting married!
