Posted February 5, 200916 yr A stone cold certainty Jose knows we are balancing the books and if the boy is a success it will be a swop for sure. Obviously we would all vote for Malouda, it's likely to be Drogba, but let us all hope it's not Essien. If we are wheeling and dealing in the summer i'd be happier offering Drogba to Lyon in exchange for Benzema, Ballack back to Bayern in part exchange for Ribery. Deco to Man City in part exchange for Robinho. However, we all know the latter two are pipe dreams, neither are worth a penny !
February 5, 200916 yr There is some logic in what you are saying - if Quaresma couldn't make it in Jose's Inter, chances are they won't want him back and we will be allowed to keep him. It would be a dream come true if they take Malouda, but they don't need that many wingers. A swap with Drogba would be beneficial to all parties concerned. Jose gets his target man, Drogba gets to play for his "gaffer" again, Inter get a player they have wanted for some time and we get to keep a talanted winger (assuming Quaresma does indeed fit with us). Like you said, the other two are impossible.
February 5, 200916 yr In all seriousness, I think Jose would take Malouda who, imo, is better suited to the Italian league, being that he seems to try going through defenders rather than around them. However, I dont think there is a chance in hell Drogba will ever extend his deal with us (which I think is up in 2010) so I think it would be prudent, assuming the values are set properly, to send him to a team and manager that clearly want him. Hopefully some money comes our way which we can spend on a replacement or two that gives us our Torres or Van Nisterooy, that proven, dependable goal getter who is reasonably young. If Quaresma succeeds like we all hope, having him and Joe, along with Stoch who hopefully comes along might finally give us what we need on the outside, meaning we dont have to address that area, and can concentrate our limited funds on a forward. If, somehow, Ribery was possible, I would flip. But I agree with the idea of trimming the wage budget by getting shot of our halfhearted over 30s

This deal is sweetner for Didier all the way.
February 5, 200916 yr Agree Bluenut, Jose has had the best out of Drogba and although we all doubt he'll ever recover that form I would imagine Mourinho is pretty confident he's the man to get him back to his best. All we can hope is somehow Drogs finds enough form towards the end of the season to make him a target for other clubs, that way we might either get enough money to buy someone we want, be it Quaresma if he performs or somone else and we wont be over a barrel for a straightener.
February 6, 200916 yr if riccy Q is a big success, i reckon jose will have him back and if he works well with drogba he'll take them both, if he isnt a success we'll probably sign him up on a 5 year contract, and play him opposite malouda for the next few years
February 6, 200916 yr Riccy Q is just JMs scout - if he reports positively JM will be back at SB next season!!!!
February 6, 200916 yr Inter would demand atleast Drogba + Malouda for Quaresma by my reckoning for a player they just signed the last summer because he is a proven talent. However, I'd prefer cash plus one of those two, preferably Malouda. Drogba would still have potential buyers in Marseille, AC Milan, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Inter thenselves in a separate deal perhaps?
