Cole wants City success

Ashley Cole hopes Manchester City force his former club Arsenal out of the top four of the Premier League. The Chelsea and England defender angered Gunners fans when he moved to their fierce capital rivals in 2006.

Cole has now admitted that he would rather see City, who have spent heavily on a host of stars over the summer, finish above his ex-employers.

"I have friends at City and I hope they do really well - and that they finish above Arsenal," said the full-back. I think it's going to be hard for City but they could do it. They may click straight away and it's magic. I hope they do."

They're actually debating this on Talktrash right now. Currently there's some self-righteous Scouse git having a go, earlier there was the expected succession of Gooners spouting the same tired old garbage. The biggest surprise was that Talktrash actually allowed a Chelsea fan to make the one salient point that is so often overlooked, which is that the Arse had actually agreed to pay Ashley Cole £60 per week, but refused to honour their agreement after David Dein left the club.

Same old same old. f**k 'em all.

thats brilliant, good on him. cant wait to hear all the pathetic arsenal fans getting really wound up by this. totally forgetting the amount of abuse theyve given him since leaving. good enough for the f**king horrible, sanctimonius c**ts...

yeah i just heard that, and at least cundy told the scouser about that who then just ignored that fact totally. ive always had this arguemtn with people who say cole was a disgrace, how would you react if a company offered you a pay rise to a certain amount which was still lower than people at the same standard as you then dropped it for no reason at all.

"What a difference a K makes"

Certainly does. I lost my virginity to K. Would have been fine but for the rash...............

I'd prefer it if he came out saying how much he wants to win the title than to be concerned over where Arsenal finish. Don't see why he's still bitter towards them when he's now at the better club. :stirthepot:

i dont blame him one bit for being bitter toward arsenal after the way they treat him. the media and fans of other colubs made him into a pantomime villain and it stuck, but he is knowhere near as horrible a person as they make out. ive always felt he got wrongly hammered for what happened to him mainly because of the way he put his side across in his book. what he said was right, but it came across badly and i think hes been badly managed.

You may be right on that dkw, but I think his extra-marital antics have also done a lot of damage to his reputation, and i don't really think he can argue against the flak he will always get for that.

why exactly? hes no the first, hes not the only and he certainly wont be the last footballer to cheat on his wife. who are we to that think we have a right to moralise over someones personal life. the media invented the "ashlecy cole is a monster" persona and its stuck which i think is absolutely disgraceful by the media.

You're quite right, dickywuh. To confuse a person's private life with his professional life is totally absurd. It's like saying Picasso wasn't a good artist because he had mistresses. What bollox!

I'm glad he's still bitter towards Ars*nal, keeps him on his toes when we play them, IMO he gets bad press because he's a bit of a petulant gobshyte not for playing hide the sausage away from home.

did he? the bar steward, never understood his paintings. stupid squares and blues stuff..... :D

I do not give a toss what he has done, as long as he continues to talk sh*t about the scum of north London I am happy with the guy ;)

I am warming to Ashley these days. But like many, it's taken a while. His performances on the pitch to start with were pretty average and at the time I thought Bridge was the better option (but can now see that's not the case). But it was his behaviour ON the pitch, all that snearing etc which got my back up, which thankfully he does now seem to have improved a fair bit.

As for the off the field stuff and the cheating on the mrs bit, I think a lot of us are just astounded how anyone could cheat on a bird as fit as his. Okay, none of us know what she's like in the sack (although I'm sure we've given it some thought) but you have a top looking bird like that and he still does the dirty on her?

At least if I did what he did, I'd have good reason to.

(Sooo Glad my Mrs never looks at this forum, bless her!!!)

So - it's only wrong to cheat on attractive women? You'd have thought him justified if she'd been ugly or even just ordinary?

And regardless how good or bad HE might be in the sack, her not being extra-competent would justify extra-marital away matches?

LOOK - it's either wrong or it's not wrong. The looks of your partner, be it male or female are totally irrelevant to the question.

I have known some devastatingly attractive men who have bored me to tears in no time. Do not underestimate the effect of boredom on the libido. Maybe the other woman was more interesting.

Erm, Yeah!!

(I knew another woman wouldn't understand!)

dkw, not saying it is right of the media at all, and personally i don't care that much what our players do with their private life, but given how many footballers do cheat and get away with it, he was f**king stupid to get caught and was always going to be on a hiding to nothing from that moment on, especially when his missus is fast becoming some sort of national treasure.

Still, bottom line he is a top top player, and has been consistently excellent for CFC for the last year or so, so he's very much alright by me.

I'm not really bothered about that: Essien reportedly cheated on his wife and I hail him as a God.

I'm not at all surprised that Arsenal fans dislike Cole - if one of our players were to move to City under similar circumstances, and then come out with such cringeworthy bollocks in their pointlessly early autobiography, I'd probably lose respect for them too - I just don't get why he bothers to rise to it.

Erm, Yeah!!

You're a woman?? :o
